Pros

Cons
No clear path for career advancement.
No introductory training in company operations specific to the laboratory.
Frequently changed course and reshuffled staff and managers which stunted bench scientists growth and development.
Pros
Very flexible work schedule.
Work personal life balanced.
Cons
Sadly, its not a software company.
Pros
GSK is a great place to work at. People are respectful and work is very challenging. I love working there.
Cons
There's some stress sometimes, but it's not just at GSK. Maybe a little too far from my place, but that's ok now.
Advice to Senior Management
Great management.
Pros
Great people and work environment.
Cons
Too many changes occuring at the time I was there.
Advice to Senior Management
Talk to employees about how they feel about all the change.
Pros
Respect for people, good package, great spirit among employees
Cons
not enough initiatives at local level. Think globaly, act locally should be more applied
Advice to Senior Management
Be less political
Pros
Working at gsk is satisfying as if allows you to know there is job security and the company itself is out to help the community
Cons
The bad side to side at gsk is the hours can be long and people can be obnoxious. Some people get away with murder
Advice to Senior Management
Make sure you keep you friends close and your enemies even closer. Don't burn bridges and be quiet. There are alot of tape recorders
Pros
Career progression is achievable if follow the correct processes
Cons
Benefits is par below the industry standard
Advice to Senior Management
More perks and benefit to at the same industry standard
Pros
Great people, great benefits. Car, free gas. Flexibility, good pay
Cons
not as stable as it used to be. Lots of reorganization/changes/layoffs in recent years. Lack of consistency with senior leadership team-changing the rules in the middle of the game. GSK is so scared of doing anything out of compliance that sales reps are finding it harder and harder to be able to sell. As of 2011, there will no longer be individual goals or sales achievements
Advice to Senior Management
More consistency with sales team. Also they need to stop taking away the simple things that keep employees happy, like the ability to have holiday parties
Pros
good compensation package at certain level
Cons
Try to cut cost, but they may not know they waste tons of money on the projects because of the leadership.
Advice to Senior Management
if the project is not in your expertise area, ask someone who really knows.
Pros
Coworkers are good people to work with.
Overall benefits are good.
Proactive in promoting wellness and healthy lifestyle choices.
Products typically strong clinically.
Cons
Direction of company via Senior Management.
Lack of input allowed from employees on decisions by Senior Management.
Every decision is made from a legal sense and how the company should minimize it's potential exposure to litigation.
Consultant driven management.
Advice to Senior Management
Allow those that you profess are most important to the company, ie, frontline sales, marketing, management...to have input into strategic decisions that ultimately impact their wellbeing.
