I have been working at Glentel full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Will focus on your development as a sales person, can make huge commission and lots of incentives. Well rewarding job

    Cons

No strict definition for Managers, treated very similar as a sales associate. Once you become a DTL, there is little room for advancement. You are owned by your phone

    Advice to Management

Higher salaries for managers, DTL should be paid higher to help DM more effectively.

I worked at Glentel full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

A small company that grew into a little giant literally overnight with a lot of hard work and determination. Is a leader in it's business of telecommunications and many employees have been at the company for many years. Due to it's success it's caught the eye of Bell and Rogers and just awaiting for the deal to close. Who knows what the future holds?

    Cons

With success sometimes comes the thinking of a big company and though the company is still relatively small in size at head office it may require people wearing many hats. Communication downward from senior management can also be improved.

    Advice to Management

Your people are your greatest asset and have helped with the success of the company. Don't keep them in the dark, let them know what's happening before it happens. Rumors and the unknown is never good and you could lose good people.

    Pros

    - Good IT - HR truly care - Some of the staff very nice - Lots of social events - Not strict on hours

    Cons

    - Downsizing & focused on cost cutting only now - jobs, resources, department sizes - Family run business - all decisions by family - "Boys club" C-suite - family & friends, separated from all other management - Performance reviews or progression planning - none done - No management meetings or sharing - no communication down the line - No planning or strategy - Behind in the times and systems

    Advice to Management

    - Talk to middle management and share plans - Plan strategies for growth - Need bigger accounting & finance team - Keep smart employees as you layoff people
