    Pros

    Good place to learn because you hardly get penalized for mistake at work

    Cons

    Salary review not annual/regular and at times not based on merit

    I have been working at Globacom full-time

    Pros

    1. Provides opportunity to entry level candidates
    2. Little supervision, you can pursue other goals if you have completed your objectives
    3. You can earn above the standard rates if you negotiate well or management is scared of you being poached
    4. Very relaxed environment. Semi-professional
    5. Won't be a problem finding a new job

    Cons

    1. No health insurance, no bonuses, no incentives, no allowance, etc. You may be stuck with one base for a while
    2. No training, no support. You're on you own.
    3. Some members of management are absolutely disrespectful. They think they are gods and you are their minions
    4. Management will always choose "saving money" over quality and efficiency
    5. Most employees have data cap and won't have internet once they run out
    6. The HR Deparment is not people friendly

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    They may not be able to see their own faults. Company has lots of talents and opportunities going waste. They will probably need an experience external consultant with a track record to evaluate the whole company , structures and people from top to bottom. GLO needs serious revolution to be a global brand

    Pros

    In this department, you can have a career growth. Especially, when you are in the shops.

    Cons

    No good structure
    No insurance
    No gratuities
    Little tools to work with.

    Good Salary. Lesser informed management and easy work for hard working Asians

    Cons

    HR department is full of Conmen. Starting from EDHR to all downwards are corrupt and dont honour their commitments and are corrupt. Bribing to fellow employee is normal practice here.

    Pls change all CXOs including GCOO. Mr Chairman pls empower your people. Work cant wait for your memo approvals on smallest task

    Pros

    Time for self study since there is no platform for training.

    Cons

    There is no health scheme
    No methodical working plan
    No visibility in the organizations goals and visions.
    Management and employees are on different side of the divide

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Management needs to strategically rethink the way business is done in the organization.
    An urgent need for employee engagement.
    There is also a need to redefine processes and procedures.
    Management doesn't have a global view of the organizations operations, the information they get is more of here say.
    Network Management is at all time low, therefore troubleshooting issues is more of guesswork.
    Training should be embarked on as a matter of urgency.
    The Organization should be more agile and flexible to the changing demands of the customer.

    No growth Structure, little or no training on entry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    I suggest the introduction of a solid administrative structure that supports growth and reward for good service and contribution. I also recommend that staff welfare should be a top priority, and is key to the continues growth of the company (Majority of the staff are depressed). Adoption of good maintenance measure is also necessary to save cost, and control the degradation of the companies valuable asset and facilities.

    I worked at Globacom full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Relaxed working environment. Good salary compared to other Telecommunications firms in Nigeria. Good brand to be associated with. Work was pretty flexible.

    Cons

    Many of the people in management positions are simply arrogant monsters. Many of them are not there on merit and hence are not competent enough for such positions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Remove discrimination and make the company truly world class. Make the pay structure more standardized. Try to find out why many of your skilled staff leave disgruntled. Lead by example in terms of behaviour. Many of the management staff do not act professionally at all. They talk to their subordinates in a patronizing manner.
