I have been working at Global Cash Access

    Pros

This company is both ethical and aggressive in its industry. Its management is knowledgeable and takes great pride in cultivating the talent within the organization, whether or not advancement is possible. Lines of communication are strong, HR is fair and helpful, and the company, in general, is a great place to work. Good pay, good 401k matching and exciting outlook.

    Cons

The insurance and other employee benefits have not been stellar, however, with the recent acquisition of a much larger company, those benefits are expected to improve. Other than this, I can't think of many complaints I have about GCA. I go to work happy every day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve the benefits and invest more in retention and corporate culture.

I have been working at Global Cash Access full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The ability to work from home if you are remote. No schedule. Full benefits. Excellent pay. My manager assists in technical issues constantly. If you don't know how to do something, someone is usually always a phone call away to help.

    Cons

On call 24-7. It's hard to feel a part of a company when you are working remotely. You miss out on meetings and holiday gatherings.

I have been working at Global Cash Access full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

As a service tech, pay is ok but someone with more technical and work experience it seems to be underpaid. Benefits are decent. Plenty of overtime opportunities which seem to be necessary to compensate for lower base pay. Great travel opportunities. No time clock to punch, can work from home without going to office. Travel to different casinos all day not stuck in a office all day.

    Cons

Compensation, use of personal car. Put 12000 miles on my car in 7 months. Holiday pay rips you off of overtime, in order to get overtime you have to work 40 hrs, holiday hours don't count as worked. Your responsible to pay company credit card, but the approval process for expenses can be delayed beyond your control., but you still have to pay a 1k bill. Have a lot of work expenses that are not covered and will have to claim on taxes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase pay to be DOE not just a flat rate. The pay is my biggest complaint. A few more dollars an hour would make it where I should be.

I worked at Global Cash Access full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Large customer base, global travel opportunities, ability to network with other professionals in the industry. The products and services that work are great. Repeat customer loyalty and business. Opportunity for growth should you decide to stick it out. Competitive salaries.

    Cons

Revolving door of CEO's. Half baked products and services that either barely work or are just vaporware. Everyone is a "VP" of something. Undefined roles for many management types.Huge lack of communication in all departments. Lots of finger pointing. Sales will throw you under the bus in a heartbeat.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop buying Bentley's and Lamborghinis and focus on the people who provided you with those nice cars. Focus on your employees and not the bottom line. Take the company private again. This is a niche company in the gaming market, it has no reason to be on NASDAQ.

I worked at Global Cash Access full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Global Cash Access on the surface appears to be a great company to work for, especially in the corporate office. Pay is reasonable and the benefits are better than average for the Las Vegas Market. The company keeps coming out with innovative products, and if you are in good standing with management your career can rise quickly.

    Cons

If you fall out of favor with management you will likely come in to work one morning and be given a box and 60 minutes later you're heading home to file for unemployment. GCA has lost a lot of great talent in their IT department in particular and it seems upper management doesn't care. If you tell them what they like to hear they keep you. If you try and stand up for your ideas and alienate the wrong person your career will be short. Or you will work hard and end up carrying the work load of managers who are feeble in their position and use your hard work to glorify themselves. GCA is also very heavily biased towards men except in lower ranking positions. Some of the women on staff didn't seem to stick around long.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Respect diversity. Broaden your employee base to include women and persons of color. Don't just ask employees for feedback and ignore it, act on it. Do more to retain talent, and apply performance metrics to measure existing staff performance. Upper management has a tendency to promote or hire deadwood while true talent is overlooked or released.

    Pros

    Centrally located in Las Vegas

    Cons

The building is old and everything is falling apart. Furniture is cheap, chairs constantly needing replaced.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

HR acts like they run the entire place. Need other supervisors to ofset the need for HR to always be in your business. HR should not be in charge of Facilities.

I worked at Global Cash Access

    Pros

Good place to start with no experience in a call center, they will teach you 9 different types of calls to master.

    Cons

If you do have experience, be prepared to be under paid and over worked. Senior Management does a great job in down talking normal employees and being counted as a number rather than a person. Over worked Supervisors and a manager who lacks the ability to communicate to everyone reporting to him. Lack of communication from tech support to the call center, billing department. And same goes for the 3rd party vendors. Overall the overpaid, lazy, Senior Management needs to be reconstructed and in dire need to improve their customer service to retain any remaining clients.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Evaluate your staff, saving money is important. But so is a healthy team of departments. Evaluate how each department is performing, interview the middle management and entry level employees to determine if they are actually happy to represent the company. The worst thing to ever say to a group of people working for you is "that you just label each and all of them as a number vs a person, because you want to be fair."

If you want to work hard, you get plenty of overtime

They are always growing and with that comes some disorganization. Some managers seem to be more on top of the changes than others.
