    Pros

It is a small organization that fosters a friendly environment and provides valuable support for the students it works with.

    Cons

Because it is a small organization, it is hard to advance through the ranks. You are more likely to get a change in title than in salary.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create more opportunities for employees past and present to develop professionally in the form of conferences, seminars, and support with graduate education expenses.

I have been working at Global Kids

    Pros

Work with a highly talented and passionate team dedicated to youth development, social justice and world affairs.
Excellent organizational culture with relatively high standards while still maintaining a fun collegial atmosphere.

    Cons

Not very clear parameters/ paths for career progression.
Job titles sometimes don't clearly reflect job roles and responsibilities of staff holding those positions.
Recent economic downturn translated into greater workload without equivalent increase in staff size

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve management ability to ensure roles are well differentiated and defined especially for staff rising from within the ranks into middle management positions.

    Pros

Global Kids is a great place to work. There is a very inclusive work environment and a strong sense of community. Upper-level leadership is very supportive and actively advocates for staff members at school sites. The organization has a lot of rich training resources that are easily accessible to employees. Employees are very dynamic and have inspiring life and work experiences, and exhibit a commitment to social justice in their professional and personal lives. Overall, this is a great place to learn, impact, and be inspired.

    Cons

Youth development work is always challenging, and success comes with great patience and commitment.
