    Pros

    Cons

They lay off people then hire people. It's a cycle. AND NO HEALTH CARD

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

Love my colleagues and team, very multi-cultural

    Cons

Hate the politics, business is dying slowly, takes too long to make changes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think everyone's too afraid to take charge and make decisions. Great ideas sometimes, but you have to take risks to reap benefits.

Good learning experience about global trade

    I worked at Global Sources

    Pros

Multinational team, exposure to different work cultures, an opportunity to understand the issues surrounding global trade and manufacturing. With offices in many geographic locations, there are also plenty of opportunities to travel, particularly to its China Sourcing Fairs.

    Cons

The matrix organisation structure requires different stakeholders to collaborate on projects and this sometimes slows down the decision-making process as the project team needs to seek buy-in from most of the stakeholders.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

With more nimble competitors like Alibaba in the market place, the company needs to reinvent itself quickly to stay relevant.

I have been working at Global Sources

    Pros

    - Fast-track career development if you're smart and work hard (otherwise, you could be stuck doing the same thing for years)
    - Close mentoring by supervisors and constant performance feedback
    - Opportunity to work projects that develop new skills

    Cons

    - Tend to pay under-market for staff
    - Expectation to work long hours and over-time
    - Tendency for groups to form by culture

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your people are your greatest asset -- pay them to thank/keep/motivate them! Also, more senior managers should speak/understand Mandarin Chinese, since the majority of team members are local staff.
