Pros
its brand though one that's not quite known in the Americas. It provides many solutions for broadcasters who are big names.
Cons
confused on the company's direction. opportunity for the company to do extraordinary out of the box stuff but yet to see it.
Advice to Senior Management
The company does not really have a true 'creative' center. There are many senior staff who are comfortable to remain there and bide their time.
Pros
GlobeCast is a small subsidiary of a French GIANT (France Telecom). They are seen as a rounding error and act as a "placeholder" in the States (FT prides itself for having "US presence" even-though 99.999% of their business occurs in Europe).
Although GlobeCast has been in the red for decades, they'll continue to lose money, incur debt, and operate as a "slow sinking ship" that just barely floats year after year. If you are interested in this company, or in most cases, if the company is interested in you, do your time, learn what you can, and get out. I realize the boldness of this statement in such weakened economic times, but when it comes to building one's career, the negative effects of a wasted opportunity far exceed that of a slow economy/job market.
Most people make more money after working at GlobeCast rather than during (i.e. lawsuits, better opportunities, other non-lateral moves, etc).
They have mediocre benefits and high turn-around. Do your time if you have no other options.
Cons
See Pros. "The best reasons to work at GlobeCast" can also be viewed as "the downsides of working at GlobeCast"
My entire tenure at GlobeCast can be described in one word: Mirage. Since joining (x years ago), the idea of the place seemed to make sense. After surviving multiple restructures and weak management, the time to move on grew closer.
Advice to Senior Management
Senior Management (CEO, CFO, Directors, and VP's) infections need to be cleaned out. The are a few grains of hope for this toxic well of a subsidiary but the "elitist" and pretentious top level execs need to be wiped out and replaced with motivated leaders with realistic visions of the overall direction for the company.
Pros
Company has worldwide offices with a large amount of company assets.
Cons
Lack of leadership in many cases. The drive out the better people that are trying to make to work environment better. Bad methods, broken equipment and lack of investment in day to day infrastructure.
Advice to Senior Management
Clean house and start from scratch. Too many of the wrong people in leadership roles.
Pros
Room for growth, smaller company but definitely a good opportunity to "stand out" in such a small industry (satcom). Many changes have been made over the years but the company is still not at a "good place" as far as financial stability is concerned. The company really needs to focus on the market and beef up the ever-shrinking sales department for more numbers. Far too much time and money is spend in marketing and not enough in sales.
Cons
Company can change ways almost overnight. Management decisions not always articulated and done on the fly. Can come of as "unstable" when there is obvious potential for future growth
