Pros
Friendly environment. Networking opportunities. Free evening functions. Management feedback. International environment. Foreign languages. Central location in San Francisco. A bit of travel opportunities
Cons
No real "formal training". Hard working environment in the summer. International Travel and International trade shows are limited to senior and management staff.
Advice to Senior Management
It would be great to go more even often on the road to check out places/touristic places. Free Foreign languages would be helpful given the environment. More meetings with suppliers and tour guides would help as well. But overall it's a pretty good company to work with.
Pros
-- can use your language experience
-- some travel perks
Cons
-- management doesn't want to hear opinions, unless they agree with theirs
-- you're watched like a hawk all day long
-- worst bathrooms and hygiene conditions to work in
-- favoritism amongst employees
-- unhealthy work environment, with much dust in the ventilation
-- salaries not commensurate with the market
Advice to Senior Management
Treat employees with the same respect you would like to receive.
Pros
- International Environment
- Use of languages
- Nice colleagues
- Growth opportunities
- Location : pretty central in San Francisco
Cons
- Busy... including bisy managers
- Stressful at times
- Management at times abroad
- Not much of a formal training
Advice to Senior Management
My couple years have been very positive. I have learned a lot. Will miss my colleagues. A bit more team building would help.
Pros
- Young co workers, international team
Cons
- No growth opportunities
- Work can be repetitive
- Do not listen to their employees feedback / ideas
- Supervisors / managers don't know how to communicate
- No recognition for hard work
- High turnover
Advice to Senior Management
Take care of your employees and maybe they'll show some respect for the company
Pros
-International colleagues
-Baked goods
-Good local food options
-tasks are simple for the most parts
Well, that's pretty much it
Cons
-Repetitive and boring busy work
-Does not empower employees to help business grow
-no communication from upper management on business vision or business status
-no investment in employees to develop them in the tourism industry
-you basically have to learn on your own and if you don't then you're not a "good fit" and will be let go with little or no notice
-low pay and no incentives
-upper management has no interest in hearing from employees unless they are the favorites
-product is cheap and of low quality, making it hard to feel proud of your work
-stuck on really dated work model and technology
-strict hierarchical and stale work environment
Advice to Senior Management
If you start trusting and investing in your employees then maybe they'll start trusting you and feel more invested in the company.
Pros
The one pro is that Management is quite understanding of personal issues, and requests for time off...
Cons
- open door policy is very hypocritical: the door is open, when you better not say too much of what you actually think, even if it's to better the company
- management is VERY susceptible and get easily offended by opinions going against theirs; if they ask (and they will), just say you agree with them
- growth opportunities are certainly NOT as available as they claim
- here another word for Productivity is "being cheap" - no constructive investment made to facilitate the job and make it more effeicient
- favoritism is common practice
- employees are expected to do overtime and get the bad look if they don't - but hehe.... no extra pay for that
- and so on....
Advice to Senior Management
Try to get an independent employee satisfaction survey... you'd be suprise to see how many people are looking for another job! Once you do that, maybe consider recognizing and investing in the talented people you have.
Pros
Good environment / Friendly colleagues / Good Learning curve / Growth opportunities / Overall good management and leadership
Cons
Work pace and work load at times / Indeed a busy industry however it gets tiring during high season.
Advice to Senior Management
Investment in website, marketing probably needed.
Pros
have a good understanding of family/work balance
Cons
a lot of things kept secret - employee initiative not valued - no room for innovation - professional negligence of upper management
Advice to Senior Management
trust the competence of your employees and stop thinking they are idiots
