I have been working at GoGrid Cloud Hosting full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Working at Gogrid gave me a lot of freedom to be creative, I earned well, and the people on the sales side were highly professional and friendly. I'd not worked with many other departments, but holiday parties were enjoyable. A great bunch of loyal characters there.

    Cons

There was little reward for innovation and what reward there was often required thick skin. The infamous, "no good deed went unpunished."

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward extra effort with freedom and respect. Start shifting away from a pure startup mentality.

I have been working at GoGrid Cloud Hosting full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Relatively drama-free. Friendly people. Lots of company social events and catered lunches on Friday.

    Cons

Some accumulated tech debt can make developing new products slower than it could be.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Reduce tech debt.

I have been working at GoGrid Cloud Hosting full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

GoGrid likes to innovate and create their own solutions with various opensource technologies. This gives you a wide breadth of options and the ability to see what the community is doing instead of being pinned down to vendor contracts or software license agreements (as a developer)

    Cons

Sometimes getting a product or project to market comes at the sacrifice of a more complete solution.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maybe show how a product's spend (cost to develop) returns the company by sales and how much money we're making on that. Celebrate those successes and then continue to iterate on that feature (which is making money).

I have been working at GoGrid Cloud Hosting full-time

    Pros

GoGrid has a start-up feel but with some serious dreams to go big. People are friendly. Some of them are quite smart. Being a leader and innovator in the cloud is nice. Free drinks, good perks, free Friday lunch all nice.

    Cons

Needs to reward its employees more. Start up feel is nice but need to work harder to retain smart talent with much more aggressive salaries. Becoming more corporate in procedures is taking away some of the fun.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work to retain employees...pay very competitive salaries and you will retain employees and attract more and better talent!

I have been working at GoGrid Cloud Hosting

    Pros

GoGrid is part of the newly emerging CloudHosting space. A rather big part. If you want to start getting some experience in this industry - GoGrid is one of the companies to check out.

    Cons

The pay isn't super competitive. The size of the company and pay structure is more like a start up. You don't have a clear pay structure or path to follow.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Create an open pay structure.

Good People - Leadership Got Lost

I worked at GoGrid Cloud Hosting full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Smart, dedicated people that focused on helping each other
Cool Technology that served customers well
Started to focus on Career Paths

    Cons

Leadership Lost Focus and went into a downward spiral. Layoffs have followed and the company is in survival mode.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be transparent about your plans - focus more on how decisions will impact staff. The technology and services are outstanding, but without significant additional investment, the customer base will continue to shrink.
