I worked at Gogo as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

Clean work environment, good hours, some employees are friendly although employees associate with each other in cliques.

    Cons

Average to below average compensation. Heavy workload. Department runs with a short staff. Not a good return on investment for the employee. Can find better work load / pay balance elsewhere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't BS people telling them they are going to be around longer than the agreed contract length, then hire separate permanent employees 2 weeks later for the same department. Its very two faced backstabbery. It sucked I took a pay cut to come work for you, but I am glad to be gone and have found a better return on investment of my work hours- elsewhere.

I have been working at Gogo full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Intellectually challenging across all functions
incredibly high bar for talent with great results
Better than average pay and benefits
    Better than average career opportunities

    Cons

A lot is expected, this isn't a company in a maintenance/mature stage on the growth timeline; 40 hours a week probably won’t get most jobs done. If you work here, you have to be flexible and have thick skin, things change fast

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stay in touch with all employees through communication on strategy for growth and development. Don't be shy about syaing what works and what hasn't

I worked at Gogo as a contractor

    Pros

Nice locations of properties both in Itasca and Irvine.

    Cons

Managers uses favoritism instead of performance of an employee in determining who will be let go. Upper management does not consult his/her managers on who they will save from layoff. Some managers have anger issues, needs to be trained on how to communicate with his/her people or vendors. Some managers may treat you nice in front of you but you can feel that he/she is not sincere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please consult with your manager on who you should keep or let go. Gogo lost allot of good hard-working engineers and kept the bad ones.

I have been working at Gogo full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Interesting product that, with the right innovations, has a lot of potential.

    Cons

-Positions are described to sound very appealing but the reality is that there is a lot of dysfunction.
-Opportunities for advancement are presented as being there but the reality is they are few and far between.
-The respect that candidates are given during the recruiting process quickly disappears once you are hired.
-Crazy expectations about the amount of hours you are expected to work.
-Compensation is adequate but don't get fooled by what amounts to a very optimistic and idealized presentation of the overall compensation package and benefits that occurs during the hiring process.
-Lots of questions about future of a product that is actually in a pretty perilous position. Lots of market penetration but ask around and you'll find that there is a great deal of customer satisfaction.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Respect newcomers and solicit their viewpoints. Allow employees to have a more flexible schedule.

    I worked at Gogo full-time

    Pros

Standard benefits, better than average holidays and an average pay check.

    Cons

A burn out development company. Senior managers wonder why their software is bug-ridden and poor quality. The answer is very simple. Stop your IT managers from reducing their budgets by running their staff ragged.

Gogo wants a huge return on investment without making much investment in building software, retaining talent or giving developers a good work/life balance.

The company also does not pay notice, so if you quit and give a couple fo weeks warning, expect to be sent home and not paid.

If you work in IT at this company, expect to be treated like a possession, not a person.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go to church. You have some explaining to do.

I worked at Gogo as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

Company just went public maybe there is hope

    Cons

Contractors are made to feel like less than human, company functions right on the premises and contractors are excluded, not so bad if they had a policy not to hire the same contractors but they don't., no clear policy a company wide email sometimes excludes them and at other times even the contractors are sent an email and then when they show up are asked to leave......cannot figure this out?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too many chiefs not enough indians, no clear training protocol and not guidance undercutting and literally fighting in bloody water with a pool of sharks some management must enjoy it especially aircraft engineering do not go there....you will regret it

    Pros

    Better than average pay.
    There isn't too much stratification.
Because it's young and small, you are often given a lot of responsibilty.

    Cons

Heavy workload, which leads to long hours and stress.
    Average benefits.
Quantity of work often trumps quality.

I worked at Gogo as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

I worked for great managers and got to do some cool research. They were all patient and willing to teach even when things were hectic. They were also receptive to ideas even if they didn't embrace them.

    Cons

Communication could have been better at times and some of the people I had contact with were "interesting" to say the least.
