NOT a good company to work for

    Front Desk Associate (Current Employee)
    Tulsa, OK

Prosgym membership, and that's pretty much it.

ConsHorrible GM, very low pay, too much work for one person and they expect you to do everything with no help.

Advice to Senior Managementunderstand that we can't greet every member and make shakes and get memberships updated at once! front desk needs two people!

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    All about MONEY

    Kids Club Associate (Former Employee)
    O'Fallon, MO

ProsFree membership, if you like being hit on by older men

ConsSafety issues for children, all about money, dont care about employees-wont back you up if a customer has an issue, management has no clue what's going on, constant drama and backstabbing, front desk have to look a certain way (skinny), trainers are all sexually harassing each other and it makes it awkward and uncomfortable to the rest of the staff, the groups dont get along trainers/kids club/ggx/front desk.

Advice to Senior ManagementKnow what is going on with EVERYONE. Back up your employees and investigate issues fully instead of by hearsay.

They Can Be Wonderful To You, then toss you out the door like oldtrash

    Equipment Technician (Former Employee)
    San Antonio, TX

ProsI Liked the members and people working there. I enjoyed fixing things and was very good at it. Just broke me down. needed a young buck to do what they wanted you to do.

ConsNo Down Sides, just ask you to do more than you are capable physically. A great place to work.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe proactive with your members, they want you to hear them.

Work at GGI corporate office in Dallas

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsWorking at GGI provides opportunity to network and meet high level people in the industry. Other than being a resume builder, it is simply trading time for money.

ConsControl and consensus trump innovation and growth. Innovation is not tolerated well if it doesn't support the perceived (not communicated) status quo. Being health related, you would think the corporate environment was amenable to employees living a healthy lifestyle, it is not always the case.

Advice to Senior ManagementCustomer retention and satisfaction should be equal or higher priority to driving sales. Communication from leadership is almost non-existent. The corporate culture needs to engage and support employees in living healthy lifestyles - which includes managing stress! Unfortunately, the ownership group most likely would not support any initiatives from management which require investment as they are too short sighted to see the long term benefits to their bank accounts.

    Great place to work

    Group Fitness Instructor (Current Employee)
    Salt Lake City, UT

ProsStaff and management are great to work with. A lot of really great students. One of the best places for a group fitness instructor to work because the manager is so easy to work for.

ConsI don't have any complaints about the gym or the management. Most of the students are really great, but some get a little picky because there are some really great instructors that teach there.

    ConsEgos of patrons, entitlement syndromes

No major complaints about the corporation itself, but HORRENDOUS salary. Seriously. ONE DOLLAR over minimum wage.

    Front Desk Associate (Current Employee)

ProsGREAT staff, free gym membership, relatively laid back in comparison to other jobs, and little micromanaging.

ConsTerrible, terrible pay. Shame on Gold's Gym. The corporation makes MORE than enough money, yet they pay their front desk and fitness counselors earn ONE DOLLAR OVER MINIMUM WAGE. Gym members are frequently AWFUL and MISERABLE people to interact with. These gym members have unhappy, unfulfilling lives, and they will take it on you. You'll deal with very difficult, miserable, and inconsiderate gym members on a daily basis.

Advice to Senior ManagementHelp us with RAISES and a living wage. Most of us work very, very hard.
