Lost Their Way

General Manager (Current Employee)
Tampa, FL

I have been working at Golden Corral full-time for more than 8 years

ProsVery little positive left. Long hours 70+, unrealistic food and labor numbers if volume not very high, sales slipping system wide, unrealistic product standards when there are too few employees.

ConsThe concept is way to complex to operate anymore with unrealistic expectations.

Advice to Senior ManagementConcept made money when core items were the focus. GC will never be a Vegas buffet. Profits are down, salaries are way down for unit managers. Failure will follow soon. Concentrate on clean units with consistent pared down offering.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Consworked 12 hour shifts with no breaks

this company has a hard time keeping workers and will work 1 person for the price of 3

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement needs to work on listening and hearing the concerns of staff and treat all with respect and dignity

Horrible

Cashier/Server (Current Employee)
Baltimore, MD

I have been working at Golden Corral full-time for more than a year

ProsAs a server you made $100 or more a night usually.

ConsHard to become a Server unless your favored. No benefits, holiday pay, or time off. Open all holidays except Christmas. Worked hard as a line attendant for little money. Took employees to part time so they wouldn't have to provide health insurance

Advice to Senior ManagementStop all the favoritism and pay attention to who is really doing work.

It's restaurant work

Manager (Current Employee)

I have been working at Golden Corral full-time

ProsYou have a lot of control over the business. The benfits and pay were quite good.

ConsSome of the junior managers thought they were getting a 9-5 job. They should have been weeded out during training. If you got on the wrong side of certain upper management, you were in trouble. There was no movement from 1 location to another, so if you had a long drive you just got used to it.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to your training managers. If a person struggles during training, they will definitely struggle during their career.
