I have been working at Golden Nugget Hotels & Casinos full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The co workers for the most part are good people.

    Cons

No raises, no medical benefits , no overtime, horrible food, high turnover right.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give employees raises give them a reason to stay in that place. Even supervisors make crappy pay.

I have been working at Golden Nugget Hotels & Casinos part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The reason that I like the job is that there are people that I enjoy seeing on a daily basis, Co workers and some of the regulars that I see there

    Cons

Getting along with those that think that they are better than you because they are friends with the Shift boss and then getting away with snide remarks. Shift bosses on swing dating dealers. Big violation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop dating co workers and giving them all the power. Give everyone an equal opportunity and stop showing favoritism towards those that you are having an intimate relationship with.

Horrible communication, corporate needs to fix themselves before trying to fix the properties

    Pros

Some great coworkers...... Not much else.

    Cons

Management treats employees like children and/or convicts. Can't seem to stick with policies (they're constantly changing). No room for advancement and too much micromanaging. Way too much favoritism.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Appreciate and respect your employees to improve the atmosphere. Treating them like adults makes for a better working environment and they wouldn't hate their jobs as much as they currently do.

    Pros

"it's a job" In the grip of a less than optimal job market people do what they have to.

    Cons

Certain departments (Food & Beverage) hire, promote, terminate or any other function you could possibly imagine are only based on two things 1) What you look like or 2) Who you know. If you're looking for a company that hires or promotes ect. based on merit, education, or experience keep looking. The property management team are also some of the most unethical and overall worst teams I have ever had the displeasure of ever working for some managers take a special interest in not only talking down to their staff, and advising their subordinates to follow suite. It is common business knowledge the success of any organization is attributed to the management creating and leading a positive work environment from the top-down. The Golden Nugget Biloxi only seems concerned with leading a culture of alcohol consumption and preferential treatment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Mr. Fertitta though I have no doubt as to your bussiness acumen, as the world's richest restaurateur I would however question your knowledge of what takes place at this property. It is my prediction that no matter how many amenities or pretty faces your property offers it may never do as well as MGM International because your current management team lacks integrity, honesty, the will to invest in its employees and maybe even common sense.

I have been working at Golden Nugget Hotels & Casinos

    Pros

It's a fun environment to work in and the staff and guests are one of a kind. One of the best properties to work for in Downtown Las Vegas.

    Cons

There is no employee parking. It can be really nerve racking trying to find parking and have to pay to come to work at other locations. I believe that this is the only property downtown with this issue.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop micromanaging
