I worked at Goldman Sachs full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The facilities and the people that you work with are top notch. You are given a lot of responsibility early on, and if you stick around long enough you'll get promoted at least to the Associate level (pretty much the equivalent of a VP at any other bank).

    Cons

No work life balance, the work can become really mundane and finding a reason to stick around becomes difficult. Pay can also be better, but because the Goldman name is worth so much on a CV they pay the younger employees less compared to the competitor

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase pay and promote work/life balance in order to improve employee retention and morale.

I worked at Goldman Sachs full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The culture at GS is great, and you're surronded by smart people. The firm does a lot of great stuff for employees too - great speakers, philanthropy, etc.

    Cons

I found job mobility much easier said than done. it was really hard to move into new roles durnig the tough years and there was a lot of hesitation about switiching divisions

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    more focus on job mobility

    Pros

Great people! Best people I've ever had the pleasure to work with. Coworkers are helpful and intelligent and you'll always feel part of the team.
Work/Life balance is fine. Worse than other Fin Firms, but it's GS!

    Cons

Salary is terrible for Tech. Wouldn't recommend it for other Tech people.
As in most places, work is interesting at first. Over time, it gets repetitive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your employees are supposed to be your greatest asset. Pay them well for them to stay!

I have been working at Goldman Sachs full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Opportunity to work with some of the hardest working and driven people in the industry, Compensation can be top-notch in "good years"

    Cons

Review process can be very political and lack ability to effect true results

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Many employees who have been at the firm 10+ years feel strongly that the culture has suffered tremendously as the firm has grown. Go back to the roots of the private bank.

I worked at Goldman Sachs as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

    1. Interns are like kings in this company. If you want to learn more about the company and your career path, you can meet whoever you want to meet, even a Managing Director.
    2. Very organized. Both the HR dept and your team have prepared very well for your coming. You will have enough projects to do, though not too much. You will have a lot of social events to participate. You will learn much more than in school. You will have official review process which can help you to grow very fast.

    Cons

I heard that the situation may vary depends on the team you join.
