Pros
The brand is fantastic. Friendly work environment, progressive culture. You will rarely see any incompetent staff as everyone goes through a rigorous selection process. The work environment varies for each department but generally work/life balance is encouraged.
Cons
Do not be fooled into thinking entering GS is going to make you rich or automatically lead to a successful career. The environment is tough and demanding, you will get the sack if performance is deemed even "average".
Also, unless you graduated from the very best institutions with killer grades, chances are you will not be considered for the top jobs in IB or trading. If your intentions are to work your way from admin/back office to front office, just forget it. Do that at a smaller firm where you can be noticed.
Also, switching from a department like wealth management into IB or Insto is extremely tough. Basically GS is not a place where "foot in the door" is going to lead to anything.
Advice to Senior Management
Generally the firm does well at managing its staff
