I have been working at Goldman Sachs

    Pros

You work with a group of people who pride themselves at working hard and achieving excellence.

    Cons

You'll be working crazy hours and its not acceptable to do anything less. Also, the upward mobility seems pretty congested.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think the company is run very effectively especially the upper management down to the analysts all sitting together. They have created an environment where, although there is definately levels of power, it is felt that everyone is working together to create success.

    Pros

Everyday you come to work you are faced with a new challenge and learn something new. A very rewarding place to work.

    Cons

You have to be very committed to succeeding here by willing to work harder and longer than the average professional.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

In this environment of uncertainty and fear, I wish management would do a better job of making the employees feel more secure about their positions and the outlook of the firm.

    Cons

Its a very busy environment. Might throw you off at first. The people are very busy but will try their best to help you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Very competent. Invest in their people. Very supportive of new ideas. They allow new ideas to be suggested and worked on.

I have been working at Goldman Sachs

    Pros

Great people; the most talented people you will find anywhere. Networking is consequently amazing. Also, resources are plenty in terms of doing any research.

    Cons

Too competitive/cuthroat. Not team work or any kind of sense of purpose. Hours are terrible and people can be very unfriendly

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to foster more of a team environement. Work on improving moral, and on expanding the trading floor. Pay could be better too.

I have been working at Goldman Sachs

    Pros

Very smart people with good business sense; good benefits package including online courses, maternity leave program; work itself is interesting and variable which keeps your interest

    Cons

Extremely competitive environment, management can be aggressive and also play favorites, extremely long hours required when compensation is static. The way feedback is given is not very professional in some cases.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Constructive criticism is good, but aggressive leadership is unnecessary and does not motivate employees or ensure they work to the best of their ability.
