    Pros

    Great work atmosphere and good co workers that share the same passion in golf as I do.

    Cons

    Work can be very slow as this store is in a state where the winter can last longer than expected

    Pros

    Interesting place to work. Reasonable access to manufacturer information.

    Cons

    Culture of management was lacking in any tangible support for hourly employees. Little incentive to improve the quality of the experience for customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Your assets aren't placed on club racks or hangers, they walk out the door at the end of the shift. Try to pay attention and nurture them, rather than treat them as replaceable merchandise.

    Good coworkers, but company is going under

    I worked at Golf Galaxy

    Pros

    Coworkers at the store were great. Get to play with the latest and greatest golf equipment, and retail offers a fairly flexible schedule.

    Cons

    There is absolutely no store support from corporate. Especially after the DSG takeover, employees get no answers on questions and it genuinely seems like nobody above the store level cares at all, including DMs who are worried about their DSG stores.

    LP treats every employee like a criminal. If you trust your managers enough to give them keys to the store, why do you refuse to let them go in the store alone? Why question them on every discount they apply? That department is a joke and costing the company lots of money with their laziness - they just spread blame and don't hold themselves accountable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Golf is struggling and yet you are doing nothing to help stores generate traffic. You can keep pushing prices higher, but if you're not getting people to the stores it doesn't matter. This chain won't be around much longer if DSG keeps marketing only to their stores and not Golf Galaxy.

    They could also try showing employees the office cares about them, but everyone knows that won't happen. That big disconnect causes unhappiness in the stores.

    Pros

    I took this job after graduating from high school and enjoyed it before I started college in the fall
    -Customer interaction
    -Being able to talk about golf all day long
    -Fun work environment
    -Ability to advance in the store if you are good at sales

    Cons

    -pay could have been higher
    -a lot of the training videos were pointless and did not really teach anything
    -company focuses a lot on inventory loss management instead of employees

    I feel like management was never really focusing too much on the employees. I just felt like a worker who could be replaced by anyone else who likes talking about golf. They should implement some corporate bonding activities for employees.

    Benefits are good. Work is interesting. Repair work is interesting. Fittings are fun. Managers are nice.

    Cons

    Corporate is not good to deal with. Low pay relative to how much is sold. Confusing aspects between clubs. Work register a lot when starting out. Promoting from within isn't popular.

    Pros

    Better than doing nothing but its better than Walmart.

    Cons

    The store manager hides in his office doing paper work while the under staffed sales floor personal fold clothes and ignore customers. Sales continue to fall as customers walk away from this store. Thew management in store and above don't seem to care as nothing is changing to improve customer service. I guess they figure "if you build it they will come". I wish they could watch the customers' frustration level. This place will not survive at the rate. Too bad .

    Hire store managers that understand customer service and how it can increase profits when done right.
