I have been working at Good Technology full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Strong senior management team Well defined corporate direction Great people that work hard but have fun getting things done Flexible - able to be remote worker

    Cons

Not many health benefit plans for employees outside CA. Would be nice to have several providers to choose from instead of only one.

    Advice to Management

Continue transparency with employees through monthly meetings, internal communications, etc. Enhance employee recognition program for individuals that go above and beyond expectations. Find ways to reward/include remote workers that don't get to participate in headquarter activities.

    Pros

Decent snacks in snack room. Breakfasts on Fridays

    Cons

The layoffs over the last two years have decimated the engineering staff. Even before the latest round of layoffs engineering teams were in heavy competition for the limited engineering talent available within the company. Too many mistakes were being made because of a lack of experienced engineering talent and shortsighted business decisions. I am certain that the last round of layoffs has not improved this situation. It is an unfortunate situation, but Good Technology does not seem to place much value on the quality of its engineering staff or the number needed to take the company into the future.

    Advice to Management

Hire a sufficient number of qualified engineers and let them do their job. It is the responsibility of the CEO to set the tone and direction of the company. It is time she chose a path to engineering excellence.

I worked at Good Technology full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    1. Snacks in the kitchen 2. 401K matching

    Cons

    1. Too many VPs in the company that does not match the size of engineering group. 2. Layoff happened every 6 to 10 months. There is no job security in the company and the severance package is ridiculously cheap. 3. Old technology.

    Advice to Management

    1. Please don't hire bunch of people and then lay them off. People join the company with high prospective of company future and later on found out it is not the case. Company is lacking the direction and not able to get profitable so they have to lay people off.

I worked at Good Technology full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Free snacks. Decent medical/dental Some great employees (until you get to lay them off)

    Cons

You can't swing a dead cat without hitting a VP. Negativity nearly everywhere. Endless layoffs. FOC's

    Advice to Management

Find a model that is sustainable, without wasting the time of so many employees. Hold yourself to a higher standard than has been shown in recent years (may be too late). Listen to your employees and search out those that don't parrot your own pomposity.

I worked at Good Technology full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The facilities team was excellent, always went out of their way to make certain employees had what they needed to work effectively at all times. The specialty coffee machines, though common, were appreciated.

    Cons

The undercurrent of dissatisfaction, gossiping and complaining is palpable. Many regular layoffs without knowledge transfer of any kind from outgoing people/teams. Much corporate money spent on rotations of temp employees rather than improving existing structures and managing to efficiencies.

    Advice to Management

Decide on a comprehensive strategic plan, designating actual leadership of each area and fostering cross functional communication. Stick with the plan for more than a few weeks. Remove employees that have tenure but perpetuate negativity within the company.

    Pros

    - Free Snacks - 401K Match - Good benefits

    Cons

    - Too many managers, Directors, VP for the given size of the company - Frequent layoffs (every 6 months). You will never able to get job security and focus on your work. There is no criteria for layoff.

    Advice to Management

Focus on how to reduce cost without laying off. Reduce Manager, Directors, Marketing and VP instead of engineers.

I have been working at Good Technology full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Awesome people Clear management structure Freedom to work on projects outside normal duties Career growth opportunities Relatively new CEO with a vision on the future of mobile tech

    Cons

If your not used to a fast paced environment you can quickly get lost in the all the changes in the mobile world. Between different OS versions, changes to customer requirements ect. Don't much recognition for things in most departments. Things that benefit the company as a whole tend to be discussed without any attribution to the person or persons that generated the content/tool/feature ect.

    Advice to Management

Boost company moral by empowering departments to recognize the contributions of there team members. Without recognizing team members from time to time it's easy for employees to become distracted from thee day to day duties if the feel they are not noticed by teammates or partner departments within the organization
