I worked at Goodman Manufacturing as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

The employees on the production floor where very friendly and had a willingness to help.

    Cons

Interview for one position and agreed on work schedule of 5 am to 3:30 pm, M-F with some Saturday's. On the day I started working I was told I would be working in a different position and area completely across the building. My schedule was changed to 12 pm to 6pm on Sunday and 6 am to 6 pm on Monday to Wednesday. The place was extremely hot with no AC in production areas. Extremely Cluttered. Heavy Forklift traffic, very dangerous forklift drivers. Management only cared about production numbers. Excessive waste and scrap due to managements constant push for production. The place is a constant revolving door due to Bad working conditions. the place is 60% contract workers and 40% direct employees. Poor parking situation.

    Advice to Management

Wake up! This is not the early 20th century anymore. It's time to get with the 21st century. Manufacturing's mentality and practices towards the employees have changed. The mentality of it is what it is and if you don't like it leave, needs to change. Just because your in management and someone else isn't, doesn't mean they can't contribute to helping the place run better. After 35 years on booth sides, most of the time it has been upper management that created the problems.

    Pros

There were not many pros to this job to be honest except that it paid, albeit not very well.

    Cons

Unrealistic expectations from supervisors, most workers are temps, work environment was hostile

    Advice to Management

Do a better job of taking care of your employees instead of treating them like machines, create a more comfortable work environment.

I worked at Goodman Manufacturing full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company is located in a big city, great place to work for mediocre talent looking just for a pay check.

    Cons

Poor leadership, long hours, no support to perform your job, CERO training, very low skill management and hard to deal with them...and the list keep going...STAY AWAY if you are looking for a god job.

    Advice to Management

Is time to clean the house, you need a new and better skilled crew managing the company.

I worked at Goodman Manufacturing full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It's a job in a recession proof industry

    Cons

The Indians run the engineering and are much like a high school click where no one is allowed to come in. They are very protective of their own and will feel threatened by any one who seems to be more competent then they are. Upper management relies on them and they are the gold standard for salaries which are low. The tool & die shop works 7 days a week and anyone who takes a day off gets fired. There have been in the past years of no raises despite the fact that the upper management still got their bonus. Street parking with the chance of getting a parking ticket.

    Advice to Management

Treat people like human beings and learn who your employees are rather than rely on the information from the Indian lower managers.
