Advice to Senior Management
not organized very well, most engineers are very young with no experience , the engineer tools are obsolete needs to be updated
Pros
The people are great. The work is rewarding. Diverse product line. Employees are repected. Fair compensation. Opportunity to learn. Good career/life balance.
Cons
The job and factors out of your control adds undue stress to an already stressful work pace. Offloading product lines to overseas low cost countries.
Advice to Senior Management
Take a hard look at what is being sent to India. Don't offload product lines just to fill space at the IDC campus.
Pros
Flexible work hours
People are nice and friendly
Good Benefits (Health and 401K)
Good life and work balance
Promotion of a healthy life
Cons
Not enough training is given for your job
Doesn't guide you to career and growth opportunities
Does not pay well
Pros
challeng with new technology and better environments to work.
Cons
taken too long to solve the problems.
Advice to Senior Management
very difficult to convince idea to leader.
Pros
Interesting and challenging projects. People are very friendly.
Cons
Manufacturing processes are out-dated and need to be brought into the 90's (or later). A lot of politics and not enough leadership. No one seems to want to make a decision without everyone agreeing. No one seems to be running the ship.
Advice to Senior Management
Allow employees to take proper risks and drive authority down to the projects. Lead instead of just managing the people, take actions faster so it doesn't impact the customer.
Pros
The company has had strong financial performance as a direct result of its people philosophy and a focus on customer service, support, and a balanced approach to the aerospace market including military and commercial OE and Aftermarker platforms.
Intense focus on Continuous Improvement, Lean manufacturing processes, and the Goodrich People Philosophy.
Great employee benefits including 6 percent 401K match, a company sponsored stock purchase plan, and healthy living rewards.
Cons
Currently being acquired by a larger company that will not provide comparable benefits.
Business lines are not well integrated to share best practices.
Currently all business units are not using the same ERP as a 5 year SAP implementation plan is being implemented.
Health insurance is a basic plan that is not as good as it could be given the strong performance of the company.
Pros
stable company and good co workers
Cons
no scope of improvement or growth in Canadian division
Pros
-Great Benefits Package
-Good pay for the area
-No Union
-Great trust and respect amongst employees
-Decent advancement opportunities
-Good work environment
Goodrich has a great People Philosophy in place and manufactures in a Lean environment. Other Goodrich plants complain because they think the Lean journey is a waste of time or they're not coping with the changes implemented to advance the company in a better direction, but Lean AND the Goodrich People Philosophy are what the individuals who are suppose to be using them make them. Here in San Marcos we have seen first hand what the implementation of the Lean Concepts can and do bring when worked in the right manner. We have an easy work environment which does not fail because of change or "the unknown". The Lean principles, when used correctly, set forth an environment to cope with these types of things.
Cons
-Would like to see more management opportunities opened up
-Better training would be a positive step
-Managment needs to learn how to condition employees for a better future with the company
-More leaders need to be open with their team members as far as where the leader sees the team member progressing, or what the team member needs to work on in order to progress.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more engaging with your employees as far as career development goes. For the most part the employees who want to advance let it be known but there is no on-site classes or training to help with development. It's up to the individual employee to fight and scrap to try and get career development training. The only training continuously being given is specific training the corporation makes the leadership responsible for (i.e., yearly production training, EHS training, etc...)
