I have been working at Goodrich

    Pros

It was my first job (hired on as an intern in college, started full time after graduation). A lot of people there were lifers and seemed to not mind the place. It was a pretty relaxed atmosphere.

    Cons

I didn't learn much about engineering. Most of the focus was on lean manufacturing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you're going to hire engineers, put them in engineering jobs.

    Pros

I enjoyed working at Goodrich. Employees at Goodrich are passionate about their work. The location in the south metro is easily accessible.

    Cons

Goodrich was acquired and merged with Hamilton Sundstrand to form UTC Aerospace Systems in 2012. This resulted in a much larger company.

Look to Google and modern day companies on how you need to act , retain young talent and old talent.

    I worked at Goodrich

    Pros

The company ran by the lean manufacturing culture. I learned a lot about continuous improvement and the different workflows the company had within their departments.

    Cons

They were bought out by UTC and I heard from there their culture at some extent was diminishing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide better guidance on new employees.

    Pros

Great engineering opportunities. I worked in Software Engineering was able to be part of some pretty interesting projects. Educational opportunities encouraged.

    Cons

Management is always chasing the next big contract, which is true of any big contractor. Still, the ups and downs that come with that do not provide a sense of stability.

I worked at Goodrich full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Good compensation and yearly cost of living wage increases. Good benefits, too. This company goes above and beyond for their employees. It seems the only people who got fired were those who would be absent from work too much.

    Cons

Not very flexible. Vacations must be scheduled far in advance. Also, if you bust your butt like I did and end up making a station able to be completed in less than half the time the previous worker did it, end up taking on a second station and getting it's time down enough to be able to complete both in less than 9 hours while also helping other stations out, there's no additional compensation, or recognition for your efforts. You'll eventually find yourself bothered that even those who are lazy and barely work hard get paid the same as you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognize those who work hard. Eventually the lack of appreciation will either lead to them slacking down to the level of the other people who work there, or they will take their hard work elsewhere.

    Positive Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
