    Pros

Great engineering opportunities. I worked in Software Engineering was able to be part of some pretty interesting projects. Educational opportunities encouraged.

    Cons

Management is always chasing the next big contract, which is true of any big contractor. Still, the ups and downs that come with that do not provide a sense of stability.

I worked at Goodrich full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Good compensation and yearly cost of living wage increases. Good benefits, too. This company goes above and beyond for their employees. It seems the only people who got fired were those who would be absent from work too much.

    Cons

Not very flexible. Vacations must be scheduled far in advance. Also, if you bust your butt like I did and end up making a station able to be completed in less than half the time the previous worker did it, end up taking on a second station and getting it's time down enough to be able to complete both in less than 9 hours while also helping other stations out, there's no additional compensation, or recognition for your efforts. You'll eventually find yourself bothered that even those who are lazy and barely work hard get paid the same as you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recognize those who work hard. Eventually the lack of appreciation will either lead to them slacking down to the level of the other people who work there, or they will take their hard work elsewhere.

Current Employee - Finance in Albuquerque, NM

I have been working at Goodrich full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Salary and benefits and people

    Cons

Way too much non value added pressures flow down from the top. Many fire drills keep employees from actually getting any meaningful work done. Micromanaged from the very top and to the nth degree. It has become so absolutely ridiculous, and the stress is not sustainable!
Plus, when someone leaves, they will not replace them, so the rest of us salaried people get to donate more of our time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a clue. You're employees are miserable! Try implementing ROWE. Try trusting the people you pay to get the work done and get out of their hair.

    Former Employee - Intern Engineer
    Former Employee - Intern Engineer

I worked at Goodrich as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Good, predictable hours, opportunity for suggesting improvement.

    Cons

Very 5S / organization intensive culture to the point of irritating some less organized (but hard-working and effective) employees. Can be difficult to see the "big picture" as a subcontractor. Some machinists didn't realize how critical their work was and how easily parts can be scrapped from "slight" damage.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Discuss issues with employees more often. Don't stay bunkered inside your office for weeks on end.
