    Former Employee - Intern Engineer

I worked at Goodrich as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Good, predictable hours, opportunity for suggesting improvement.

    Cons

Very 5S / organization intensive culture to the point of irritating some less organized (but hard-working and effective) employees. Can be difficult to see the "big picture" as a subcontractor. Some machinists didn't realize how critical their work was and how easily parts can be scrapped from "slight" damage.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Discuss issues with employees more often. Don't stay bunkered inside your office for weeks on end.

Former Employee - Electrical Engineer II in Burnsville, MN

I worked at Goodrich full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Really easy to just fit in and coast. Do an average to slightly below average job and you'll never get fired or reprimanded and still collect your salary.

    Cons

Even as a top performer, my responsibilities and day-to-day tasks never changed from the day I started, and I was there longer than 5 years. My career never progressed, and I'm pretty sure I became a worse engineer. As you can imagine, I became incredibly good and efficient at the things I did every single day for 5+ years; however, my salary never changed. Over those 5+ years, salary increased a total of 3.5%.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Advice to management: There are too many of you. 3/4 of the company are managers. Managers to manage managers and managers above them. You're so top heavy, it's not surprising all of your programs fail to meet schedule and budget. There's no one left to perform any actual work.

Current Employee - SAP Business Analyst in Jamestown, ND

I have been working at Goodrich full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Management was eager to gather input from employees
Culture was one of teamwork and open thinking
Benefits were outstanding (health, retirement, etc)

    Cons

Goodrich was acquired by United Technologies
UTC changed many of the positives from the Goodrich culture by implementing their own polices/procedures

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The UTC management that is now in place does not care about the lower level employees opinions/thoughts. Management should be making some attempt to involve actual employees in the change process instead of implementing and then forcing it on them.
