    Pros

    Goodwill is committed to providing services that help people find work, veterans find the support they need, Job training for senior citizens and job employment for others.

    Cons

    Staffing problems, low pay, inconsistent chain of command, some problems with rivalry between processing and front of house team, offbeat paydays

    Advice to Management

    Keep all teammates in the loop, maintain chain of command, better investigative process when incidents are brought to management, full disclosure of investigative results

    Pros

    Customers were nice 90% of the time. Coworkers were fun to work with.

    Cons

    Expected to do far more then what's in job description, jobs were added that were just absurd

    Advice to Management

    Before you move someone to a different store pay attention to they're work ethic.

    They have a policy of hiring people that would normally have issues getting hired

    Quota of donations required to process a day

    Advice to Management

    relax on the initial 90 day requirements of absences/tardieness

    A variety of jobs available, always hiring

    Cons

    my store only provides schedules one week in advance, rude and ineffective managers, associates never stay around long and the demands are too much for the pay.

    Advice to Management

    There is a genuine difference between leaders and those who graduated up in retail. An effective manager will check on employees and encourage a positive environment while also maintaining the work flow.

    Pros

    A challenging and rewarding work environment, well connected to the local community. A very accepting and diverse work force that readily accepts all. Talent is recognized and rewarded by management. Also the very tangible reward that your work is making a positive difference in the lives of others.

    Cons

    The business is constantly challenged economically to make ends meet. The task to provide jobs to so many in need and pay the higher than average wages demanded in San Francisco CA is forcing painful but necessary adjustments.

    Advice to Management

    Continue with the path chosen,and do not waiver, promote and encourage those who share the values and Mission of Goodwill.

    Pros

    Worked here for several years. Management prefers internal promotions, CEO values employee feedback and senior leaders genuinely respond to every comment. As opposed to many retailers, Goodwill RE tries to keep most positions full time with benefits. Health insurance is affordable for single coverage, dental, ample paid time off.

    Cons

    Very slow turnaround for replacing vacancies. Leaves stores short staffed for long periods of time and hurts sales, which we are held highly accountable for achieving.

    Advice to Management

    Speed up your hiring process. Many steps seem to be unnecessary. Inventory processors and cashiers that leave should be replaced in days, not weeks or months.
