If you really need a job.............

I have been working at Goodyear Dunlop Tires

    Pros

Great benefits that rival a govt job and you don't have to worry about getting enough hours

    Cons

No support for managers, in an every man for himself environment. If you don't like drama or politics this is not the place for you. High turnover rate among managers . Union has a strangle hold on the company and protects people who want a paycheck but don't want to work . Area managers make less than the people they are managing

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take better care of your managers and give them some backup . Make them want to fight for you instead of riding them into the ground . If you have a person who is really doing a good job make them feel appreciated, instead of picking up the slack for the people who won't work.

I have been working at Goodyear Dunlop Tires full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Goodyear offers some of the best products on the market and has a name that stands alone. Positive brand recognition helps when trying to establish new customers .

    Cons

The down side to sales is the instability of the market. There is so much competition with foreign brand product it can be very challenging to meet goals. The company doesn't consider market changes to be able to reflect current sales situations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The required sales goals that are required to be met should be a living document and have the ability to be changed based on companies going out of business or a change in buying procedures. Numbers are based on previous sales however the customers are always changing.

I worked at Goodyear Dunlop Tires full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good pay for the job. Great benefits.

    Cons

The company tends to reward those that just do what they "need to do" for the day. Those that far exceed expectations don't even get a simple "thank you." Work environment is usually not a very clean environment which is easily noticeable upon entering the facility. There are no raises unless you are in a management position. This company, like most others at this time, are only concerned with ways to lower the pay for individuals and not with moral, health, and well being of their workers. I worked for this company for 17 years and watched it go downhill the day Sumatoma rubber sold the Dunlop brand to Goodyear. Before Goodyear owned it, nearly every car in the parking lot had Dunlop tires on them and the people were treated good. Now drive through the parking lot and not even half the vehicles have their own product on them. Benefits, pay, and employee appreciation went through the floor.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn from the way Dunlop was ran BEFORE you bought the company. Most importantly, listen to your people... The ones actually doing the work...

I have been working at Goodyear Dunlop Tires full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Goodyear has a decent healthcare package, but this does not offset the low pay that they offer, even after 10+ years of service.

    Cons

There are no perks, as Goodyear micro manages everything. Managers do not have needed repairs done in the shops, as well as employees cannot perform to the best of their ability due to this reason. Managers are more concerned about keeping costs low, at the expense of endangering their employees, so that the end of the year manager bonus is larger

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Everytime people come from Akron for inspections, there is a notice sent out to all District Managers as well as store mangers. So in turn, the Dm and store managers make sure they shops are pristine, and everyone is "in order" so that they look good to the bosses from higher up.

Why not do a surprise inspection? You would be shocked to see what you find

Compensation is ok, but bullying and intimidation by management is the norm - passive aggression throughout.

I have been working at Goodyear Dunlop Tires full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

I like the content of my job, and most non-management staff is good to work with. Compensation is competitive.

    Cons

Difficult bosses. No practical way to change the good ole boy management, nor the take'em out to the wood shed mentality. Truly unfortunate situation. The company business and staff deserves better. It's 2014, not 1950.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give your management at all levels psychological makeup testing. Move questionable managers out of positions of authority for the sake of the well-qualified and hard working staff.

I worked at Goodyear Dunlop Tires full-time

    Pros

When I started was ok, I do like the job, the customers, the way to invest money and the way I was learning and growing.

    Cons

In 2010-2011 new management move the company into a financial obsession, blocking everything stimulating for an employee

    Advice to ManagementAdvice
