I have been working at Google as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Salary is above average; Perks are unbeatable, and freedom is unparalleled. You couldn't find a better company to work with than this company.

    Cons

You could get complacent and your vision get dimmed by the beauty of this place; and work environment could be less hippy.

There are amazing full time career prospects if you perform well on the internship.

    Pros

    Great benefits
    Smart people
Lots of opportunities within the company
    Working on bleeding edge technologies

    Cons

High emphasis on technical and less emphasis on other skills. If you are a Back-end guy this is the place for you but if you are a front-end and UI person there is less respect to your work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The high emphasis on pure technical work create less room for people with different set of skills essential for success of products like Google +.

Former Employee - Software Engineer Intern in Mountain View, CA

I worked at Google as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Good benefits. They have smart people there. If the work done really makes sense, it gets launched fairly quickly. Not too much pressure, I feel people there have good balance between work and family. The way things work out - large code base, automatic MR jobs, code reviews... are Google style, and they are awesome

    Cons

I hear that the food is getting worse (mainly due to the size increase). You want to really stand out for a promotion - but they have many great people there, so this can be tricky.
