    Pros

Lot of opportunities to grow with a growing and trending company!

    Cons

Corporate disconnect with the stores and not the same small company feeling as they grow bigger

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your store associates as the bread and butter of your company, who are making the business run on a daily basis.

    Pros

Awesome, dedicated associates who enjoy helping guests and driving sales. New CEO is breaking down traditional practices to better the company and prepare it for success.

    Cons

Associates are stretched too far and expectations make it tough to match the skills that minimum wage brings into the building.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hands on is the only successful approach mixed with micromanaging. The store manager must drive all matrix as the assistants are too hands on to have the appropriate time to develop talant.

I worked at Gordmans full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Short time employment for holidays

    Cons

Drama from the managers and the associates
Work ethic of both managers and the staff
No one really cares what happens here

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop hiring people that constantly lie about what is going on in the store. I've seen managers never leave the office, when they are supposed to be handling store issues. Rehire new staff in your rockford location because there is proof of associates saying they are working when they are shopping on the clock and chatting with friends the whole time. Your loss prevention team sucks, high volume stores need to have more coverage. When you make people work alone in crime filled neighborhoods you put your associates at risk of getting hurt. I've seen one good manager in all the stores I've worked at, the manager of naperville, He needs to be promoted!

    Pros

    discounts but thats about it

    Cons

Really only good for kids. High school students. Never enough help. And when you ask for help you don't get it. Working over night for black friday and not getting paid 1.5 time, horrible, ridiculous.Received coupon for 30% off purchase, as though I want to give my money back to a company that, doesn't even take care of it's employees.

I have been working at Gordmans

    Pros

Gordmans is a fun place to work, I enjoy my managers and co workers quite a bit! I like my discount, obviously. My managers totally get that I'm a student and that I have myself involved in a lot of things - so they're okay with being flexible with my schedule, and I'm really appreciative of that.

    Cons

Sometimes my managers disregard my availability. The store is also always constantly a mess and sometimes it's very embarrassing to work in such an environment - but it's somehow impossible to keep it clean? Also, "payroll" is always an issue, even during peak times of the year.
