    Pros

My boss is understanding and trusting, not a micro-manager
Overall caring community with good horizontal mobility between departments
Opportunity to pursue passions and personal interests
    Fast-paced, energizing, goal-driven campus community

    Cons

    Increasingly data-driven administration
Financial future of institution is unclear
At times, the fast pace (of change, growth, etc.) seems unsustainable

    Advice to Management

    Keep it about the people!

    Pros

The students were wonderful, and always willing to learn. I definitely felt like I was doing something worth doing.

    Cons

The professor I worked for was very difficult to understand and to deal with sometimes. I had to communicate with professors above him concerning ways he could improve his teaching.

    Advice to Management

Please be careful whom you hire. Professors that are very smart can be difficult to learn from.

Encouraged to learn and do things independently. The personal growth and development opportunities are great.

Not the highest pay, but great work life balance

    Advice to Management

Office culture is good, but cutting employees has got to stop.

    Pros

The Leadership is wonderful to work for. They are very accessible and are great at listening to employees.

    Great benefits package.

    Cons

There really aren't to many cons besides pay. But if you're looking to work at a Not for Profit, Higher Ed institution, I hope you aren't expecting to be making the big bucks.

  10. Positive experience at a mission-driven institution

    Pros

Gordon College has a strong sense of community among employees (faculty & staff). The beautiful campus and positive atmosphere make this a good place to work.

    Cons

Compensation is below the national averages in many fields.

    Pros

Great benefits and very flexible working hours. On top of that the staff are generally very pleasant to work with.

    Cons

The pay is very low. They make up for it in benefits, but do not expect a high salary. Also, raises are not performance based, you pretty much get a CoL increase once a year.

    Advice to Management

Continue what you are doing. Focus on growing employees and helping graduates get a stepping stone into the real world
