    Satisfied but not thrilled

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Toronto, ON (Canada)

    Pros- nice office
    - good benefits
    - freedom to work on projects
    - good team of people in own group/department (but fairly isolated from rest)

Cons- lack of help and response from HR department
    - decisions take a long time to be made due to bureaucracy
    - upper management favours the lawyers (other positions are not important)
    - do not believe in paying more than competitors in order to keep their employees

Advice to Senior ManagementBe more competitive in pay in order to attract and keep high performing employees.
Be more fair with non-lawyer positions. They are important too and should be treated with the same respect.
Be more responsive to employees' inquiries.
Actually implement the "one team, one vision" motto.

Regular hours (most of the time)

ConsPay scales favour the partners. Support staff are not well compensated.

Advice to Senior ManagementMore leadership is needed.

I have not enjoyed working at this firm.

    Legal Assistant (Current Employee)
    Calgary, AB (Canada)

ProsI enjoy working for my lawyers.

ConsThey are not a top tier firm and need to take a serious look at where they are headed. Lack of communication and no follow through on what they say they will do. Fortunately will be retiring in approx 2 years or I would be looking elsewhere.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere is no team management and support.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    ProsGood benefits and great team

ConsAverage salary. Purposely understaffed both for lawyers and support staff. This takes running "lean" to new levels.

Advice to Senior ManagementMajor issues are starting to appear at the Montreal office. Many departures and burn-outs since the last quarter of 2013.
