If you believe in yourself, DON'T JOIN !!

Analyst (Former Employee)
Noida (India)

I worked at Grail Research full-time for more than a year

Pros- Fun peer group and the erstwhile East Point training

ConsHere comes the long list:
- People are treated like slaves. The upper management does whatever they feel like. Sometimes people are fired just because there are not enough projects. You will be asked to stretch (sometimes all-nighters). Basically, the company exploits its human resources

- Poor Quality of Work: The principle used to get projects in Grail is: We will do whatever the client asks at whatever the client is ready to pay and we will make our analysts work over-time to make our margins

--- Shared Service: At the epitome of shitty work in Grail is the group called ET or Shared Service. Normal days would include copy-pasting and running spell-checks and checking whether all the commas and full-stops are in right places. DO NOT EVER JOIN THIS GROUP IF YOU ARE JOINING GRAIL

--- CPG&QRA: This would sound very high-tech and geeky quantitative research, however all they do is survey cleaning, basic frequency tests and analysis. Although, in some projects you get to do good quantitative analysis, however these projects are very rare to come and there is even less chance of somebody, other than a fixed set of people, getting staffed on these projects

--- TMT: So this stands for Technology, Media, and Telecom, however only a very limited number of projects in this group are from the mentioned domains. Basically, any project which requires extensive google-ing and cold-calling (in random African and Latin American countries) goes to TMT. Only thing you can learn working in this group is to make good ppt slides. Poorest work-life balance among all groups in Grail

--- Life Sciences: Almost, similar work as TMT, however better managers. The group is diminishing at a fast pace

- Very Slow Growth

- No Long-term Direction

- Expensive Cab Charges

- Poor Facilities

Note: I can go on and on, but coz I have wasted so much time in Grail, don't want to waste more...

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat your employees respectfully. Decide long-term direction and hire accordingly

Too much of overengineering

APM (Current Employee)
Noida (India)

I have been working at Grail Research full-time for more than 5 years

Pros- people at execution and middle management level

Cons- low growth opportunities
- overengineering of the processes
- lack of inclusion of employees in decision making
- lack of focus on future (company's executives say they dont know where they will be in next 6 months .. for them that super long term !)

Advice to Senior Management- Shake off the things that don't work
- Have a long term view

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Good learning experience

Associate (Former Employee)
New Delhi (India)

I worked at Grail Research full-time for more than 3 years

ProsGood remuneration and the association with good people around
Great learning experience
Good work culture, although one might have to stretch at times

ConsA lot of work
May not get the right guidance sometimes by the team leaders
Growth is very slow. Too many levels in the hierarchy and takes many years to reach to sr. analyst/manager level

Great place to work for freshers

Research Associate (Current Employee)
Noida (India)

I have been working at Grail Research full-time for more than a year

ProsHigh learning environment
Open culture
improves ppt and excel skills
small firm - great exposure to high stakes work and client
business development comes with live projects - an opportunity received after 10 years of experience in a bigger firm

Consthere are some work-life balance issues in some teams in the company. however, the management is trying to help this.
Also, some managers hired by the firm are not up to the mark of being managers as they have no research/consulting experience and only industry knowledge whcih may not be enough to drive projects!
