I have been working at GrameenPhone full-time

    Pros

I go to office at 8 and my work is done by 5.30. Hence I have ample of time for my professional studies and family.
Kudos to Grameenphone for providing health insurance for my parents. Now that's one of a kind benefit. I believe in the leadership of Grameenphone as in I can say my company is in good hands.

    Cons

A huge workforce which can be streamlined very easily and people are not aware of taking cost efficient decisions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When you are recruiting talents you need to provide them with a definite career path with appropriate development opportunities. And a large workforce may not be a successful one.

I worked at GrameenPhone as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

GP is a recognised company, has great office space, good facilities for employees(like lunch and pick up and drop off).

    Cons

GP offers no payment for interns, work is tedious and monotonous, and often unrelated to field of study(especially for those in the technology department).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

offer better learning opportunities for interns.

I worked at GrameenPhone as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Very nice and clean working environment. Every floor is subjected to dedicated departments with outdoor balcony to take breaks. There is also a Coffee World(TM) store/outlet. Smoking lounge is big and well ventilated. Three or four conference rooms are available every floor. They are quite uniquely designed in deed. Waiting areas are very professionally interiored. This is a working place so there will be stress and rush, but overall I had quite a good experience. The coolest department would be the law/finance and IT. Big parking place in case you are self driving your vehicle. Have company transportation that will give ride to home from office. Free mobile talk time is available for permanent employees. They also provide cell phones [blackberry]. Since it's a multinational company, it tries to maintain an international standard.

    Cons

Lacking in smart and well mannered doormen/security guards. Technologically, some improvements should be made with the Access IDs. People do tend to forget bringing their IDs sometimes, and then they would have to call someone upstairs who can come down and take them inside. Also without ID it's almost impossible to get a lunch coupon. Email is required to be sent to ask for permission for LUNCH COUPON. This could easily be overcome with usage of some verification system that accepts a code during emergency instead of a regular RFID card. Internship program at the implementation department isn't very effective. Nobody, teaches anything [heard from a fellow intern]. However, getting an internship from the IT department [where I got it from] ]is the most valuable and effective. Takes a lot of time to write you a completion letter. About 4 or 5 weeks. Also the work "LAPTOPS" [may crash anytime, dirty as well] take about 3 or 4 weeks to be issued to you. So the first few weeks, you would be sitting with an empty desk. WiFi is only accessible from the company laptops. Internet is slow. You will get your company branded email id [the only way you can communicate with other employees] during when you receive your laptop. However, it's been two years now. I hope they have came up with better solutions to deal with the problems. Coming from a university in the U.S with a previous internship in Google, my experience here was overall AVERAGE.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Supervisor for the interns should be more interactive and communicative. They need to be more engaging since the interns can only learn under their supervision.
