I worked at Grand Rapids Community College part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Worked as a tutor in the Mathematics Tutoring Lab and loved every second of it. The staff is encouraging, the students are grateful for your time and effort, and the supervisors are always willing to help you improve and very accomodating.

    Cons

Nothing comes to mind! Being a student worker was beneficial in that I could work around my class schedule. Also, if I ever needed time off, my supervisor helped me to find a replacement so that I could take off the necessary time.

I worked at Grand Rapids Community College

    Pros

It provided an employment opportunity with good around class scheduling. I learned quite a bit about working with people from completely different cultural backgrounds.

    Cons

Pay for non-staff non-permanent employees is terrible, and likelihood of getting in on a permanent staff teaching or administrative position isn't good.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay higher wages for entry level positions, provide opportunities for advancement (that don't end up going to outside candidates) and work harder to retain quality employees rather than most senior ones.
