I have been working at Grant Thornton International

    Pros

Great team and supportive enivornment, lower turnover in the consulting group, motivated Consultants and Sr. Consultants, exceptional younger managers and leaders.

    Cons

Sr. Leadership is somewhat out of touch with the staff and the clients- the success is driven by the excellence of the middle leadership, the staff, and the partners.

Director level is a position only within the consulting group which severly hampers growth, and is the largest turnover factor for experienced Sr. Consultants, Managers, and Sr. managers and many at the Director level provide very little leadership.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Director level is a position which hampers growth and many at this level provide very little leadership; goals and success for Directors is very poorly defined (they can get credit for everything sold and executed beneath them)- so it is difficult to actually hold them responsible- therefore many directors do not contribute as much as most Sr. managers.

I worked at Grant Thornton International

    Pros

Learned alot good start to get into public accounting. The firm as a whole doesn't quite have the resources that the BIG 4 have but it is a friendly and comfortable work environment with good experience on interesting clients.

    Cons

Performance feed back tends to get back to you relatively late in the game hurting your ability to fix your mistakes and issues in the work place.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make your performance feedback especially in the internship program more timely and effective. So that interns may be able to actually address the issues they have in the work place.

I have been working at Grant Thornton International

    Pros

    1) There are some really great people at this company - motivated, smart and dynamic
    2) The GT culture is hard to beat - social events include sporting events, many happy hours, picnics...
    3) You can request tickets in the Verizon Center box for multiple events
    4) All hands meetings at the country club are always nice

    Cons

    1) The company is growing fast and cutting back on some of the small things - happy hours etc.
    2) The annual performance review process is not fair to all and the real goals are not given to you up front - it's kind of hard to meet or exceed goals you never knew about. Same goes for getting promoted - nothing is spelled out up front.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please revisit the annual performance review process.

    Cons

    - GPS is being forced to integrate more with the accounting side of the firm, including financially
    - Annual performance review process is too cumbersome for everyone involved

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Scrap the "coach" role because although it is nice in theory, it is minimal value-added.
    - What the heck is GPS 2.0? Better change management, please.
