Former Employee – worked at Grant Thornton, LLP full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – supportive workplace environment, highly professional
Cons – pay could be a little better
Advice to Senior Management – continue with the supportive environment, training, cut back and unnecessary expenses like large management conference breakfasts in hotels in nyc, and pay a little more, but overall great place to work

Current Employee – been working at Grant Thornton, LLP full-time for more than a year
Pros – Staff is friendly, but poor morale has them turning on each other too.
Cons – Very poor morale
Pay not in line with other similar firms (doesn’t even compare to big 4 even though they always compare themselves to them constantly)
Many unqualified people leading while blaming staff for what goes wrong
Unorganized and understaffed
Not much team building
Advice to Senior Management – Stop blaming staff for mistakes you make. Also, start rewarding staff for working around the clock. A $10 gift card from Starbucks won’t cut it. Realize that you have good people working for you and threats and making big 4 sound like the devil are tactics that will not work. Also stop acting confused when people leave. You know why you leave and it doesn’t seem like you care.

Current Employee – been working at Grant Thornton, LLP
Pros – Coworkers are great, get to handle a lot as an associate
Cons – overburden the associates with useless tasks, they promote work life balance but somehow hard to achieve, managers are either a hit or miss.
Advice to Senior Management – offer more compensation for the amount of work associates have to take care of

Current Employee – been working at Grant Thornton, LLP
Pros – -good place to start a career (keyword START)
-variety of clients in different industries
-two offices (financial services & commercial) located in NYC
Cons – -clients are mostly previous Big 4 clients unwilling to compromise to get work done
-lack of co-worker enthusiasm
-high turnover/inability to retain top employees
-underpaid
-the better the worker, the more punishment instead of reward
-lack of knowledge found at the manager level and above
-limited training
-hostile working enviroment
-lack of communication throughout levels
Advice to Senior Management – pay more attention to your staff and reward those who are more than qualified to replace current managers. bonuses and pay increases are key to retain these rising stars as well as positive feedback on a consistent basis. underpaid employees compared to other firms working in a hostile enviroment with negaitve or no feedback will continue to leave
