  1. I'm a cook that live cooks breakfast for a variety of international guests in an open kitchen.

    Pros

It is a very tight knit , family like, family oriented environment. They use you to the best of your talents and work on developing them. It's very fun, positive, laid back, with well controlled chaos during our busy times. I love it and every single person I work with.

    Cons

They are very slow to give pay raises. I have been with the company for several years and have learned many things, yet my salary reflects only a $0.50/hour increase. I think that is my only complaint. They treat everyone fairly with the utmost respect. A great company to work for.

    Advice to Management

My advice to management is to continue with the verbal praise and recognition. It really does go a long way. I think more frequent/regularly scheduled pay raises would keep all of our employees happier and further motivated.

  2. A lot of talk about valuing their employees

    Pros

The best part of working for GHG was the coworkers. A very family-like environment. Made some great friends there. It's a nice building.

    Cons

Nearly impossible to get full-time hours. Management is very unprofessional, lots of "fraternizing" to put it politely. It's a very political environment and the only way to get ahead is to play the game.

  3. I worked there for a year and hated 11 months of it

    Pros

Your fellow Front Desk employees are great, the bellmen/valet are very nice

    Cons

Not enough money for the way you are treated by both guests and management, far too many shifts for "part-time" employees.

    Advice to Management

Don't hire someone telling them that they will work 2-3 days per week so that they can attend school and then schedule them 6 days per week for 4 months in a row.

    Pros

Good training program. They allow their employees to learn from different areas of interest.

    Cons

A lot of classes that must be attended in order to work for insurance purposes. Required that you stay at a position for a certain amount of time before applying for a different or higher position.

    Pros

great training program. Expect to be lunged into the culture of GHG on the first day.

    Cons

Way too much micro-management. And don't expect to advance. And they do not value employees as much as they claim.

    Pros

This organization truly cares about the development of their people and the community they serve. There is a great leadership that is willing to invest time and effort to make sure they are the best in the community.

    Cons

Although, they care about your development they are a small organization with only a few opportunities for upward growth and development.

    Advice to Management

Keep caring about your people.....although there have been a lot of organizational changes this year, I think people the opportunities that you have given them despite all the lay offs
