    Pros

Nice place with decent people, most of them. (Last year at employer was earlier (2005+)but no option on review site)

    Cons

The others not so decent, you go out of your way , above and beyond to help people on top of your good work ethic and you end up having to deal with teachers directors who treat training doctors like we are a dime a dozen with no support towards us when we need it instead we get easily replaced. Can't make up for lost time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't forget the big picture for trainees and work with your team, not quietly against them because of your ego and positions. Life is bigger than that. don't forget the doctors sacrifice and their need in society who end up having to sit at home due to burnout etc with 20 yrs of medical and clinical knowledge that can't be used with when rules allow us to treat yet we can't have any or can't discuss it or can't find alternatives, unfortunate and convenient red tape to keep out anyone you don't like instead of work it out. No good recourse for training doctors, 30 hour shifts every 4th day call not proven to help or benefit in any way when shortage of doctors and many without jobs or licenses due to upper echelon red tape to prevent it. So much wrong with the system toward training physicians and applicants who study for s decade and can't get jobs, try to swallow letting it go and relearning or doing something new.

    Pros

Outstanding opportunities for advancement and benefits are great. Awesome co-workers who really pull together to create an incredible work environment.

    Cons

As with every company, more and more tasks are added with less time to complete these tasks. This creates added job stress to ensure outstanding patient care.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have direct leadership be able to do the job of subordinates in their area. This would ensure the same level of patient care regardless of staffing issues.

I have been working at Greenville Hospital System

    Pros

Great work-life balance, marketing department values putting out quality material and there is a lot of work to be done. The people are all very friendly- even upper-level management. Working with health care providers is usually rewarding because they are working so hard to advance health care in the Upstate.

    Cons

The main challenge is the lack of opportunity for advancement. It doesn't seem like the marketing department itself is growing (though GHS as a whole is). It doesn't seem as though they are hiring many people and they hire out a lot of their work to contractors rather than bring anyone else on full time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think GHS is moving in a great direction! Just continue taking care of your people.

    Cons

Lots of chiefs, not enough Indians! Nothing get done in a timely manner! Made to feel like I don't matter!

I have been working at Greenville Hospital System part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good training and hours, take job of healthcare seriously. Many managers are very sincere in their work here and do work very hard to be supportive.

    Cons

There are some very strange corporate policies which set in motion staff getting hauled out over rather minor issues. Not sure if it is a manager interpretation of these policies or the actual policy. Many staff members across GHS campuses have told me they faced similar issues and did not appreciate it. Also was told by a hiring manager at a different hospital system that they have hired many GHS people that were very stressed out over GHS policies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maybe some caution about policy of annual reviewing of staff...there must be a balance here that does not cause people to feel like they are worthless while at the same time striving so hard to be competent and having a smile on their face and displaying our motto. Is it really necessary to haul people out for details...that were actually made such an issue so that management could show that they were doing their job?

    Pros

Pay was great, overtime was available.

    Cons

Unless you were best friends with upper management then plan on staying in your position. Management is arrogant and clicky even to their peers. Tons of meetings that had no purpose other than to fill management time slots during the day. Supplies are hard to come by, request is madatory for everything. When requesting pens, I was sent two, one for me and one for my patients. Ridiculous.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop trying to impress each other and upper management. Instead focus on your employees and make the business office a better, more organized place for patients. When off campus management cares about your employees more than you do its time to re-evaluate what your true position is within the company.

    Pros

Very good support from management for whatever is needed. Productivity is reasonable. Very good benefits. Career ladder is functional and appealing to grow.

    Cons

Staff coverage for PTO is challenging. This will limit the schedule for treatments or result with staff working having to take on significantly more work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to interact with employees. Town Hall meetings are very effective.

    Pros

At GHS there is a tremendous opportunity for anyone who wants to grow within the organization. The culture is committed to continuous improvement and learning, diversity of its employee base, and treats its employees fairly. You get out of it what you are willing to put into it; the opportunities are there. Physicians, affiliated staff, nursing, and corporate all work together to ensure that GHS is on the forefront of serving the needs of the communities that it is privileged to be a part of.

    Cons

GHS is a large healthcare organization that experiences significant growth each year. It can at times be a bit overwhelming. However, Leadership along with HR is committed to providing each employee with individualized attention which helps.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to focus on the development of Leadership and management skills.

    Pros

Good employee benefits package. Generally caring management from department supervisor to CEO for employee well-being as well as community. Employer provided opportunities for improvement in health and family issues.

    Cons

Pain scale for some positions could be better by providing more opportunity for job performance raises. Pay range is generally based on years of experience with no opportunity to exceed that range by merit..
