I have been working at Greenwich Consulting full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Project topics are most of the time very interesting (e.g. strategic opportunities assessment, new products/offers design).
Everyone feels part the same team, sharing the common objective to deliver good insights to clients and make things happen above all.

    Cons

Compensation is probably not among the best vs. comparable companies out there.
Do-it-yourself culture might not fit everyone's style.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to pick your battles more.

I have been working at Greenwich Consulting full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Fun to watch French partner, a master of deception without limits to cheat and lie; good training for Wall Street or corrupting

    Cons

    Absolutely no ethics....
French ways can be considered corrupt in North America

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Greenwich North America had dubious ways to win and maintain business -- look at track record, soon it will be under investigation for (very) poor business practices (with clients)

Very European, not a good firm and not to be trusted

I worked at Greenwich Consulting full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Firm believes the main strength is selling (not so) proven European telecom models and business processes for which they consider to be superior to places and prospects where they believe there is a gap or are inferior in their view.

    Cons

I felt very annoyed and often disrespected by comments and remarks made with respect to markets, countries, and clients they targeted to sell their so called "superior" European models.
Not to be trusted; I've seen client's trade secrets and project deliverables circulate freely and without controls. As per the instruction of a very senior partner, client NDAs only applies to the offices within the countries where they are signed, meaning that other offices for the firm can benefit and utilize client information for their business benefit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Respect all human beings as equals regardless of races, geographies or culture.
It's not because you are white and European and smart that your people are better than the rest of the world. I don't think you should pursue business in Africa or Middle East, not even America which is multi-cultural, unless you appreciate.

    I worked at Greenwich Consulting

    Pros

not much to be said here

    Cons

    old methods, dirty tricks.
firm's business model is first recruiting and then finding a market or demand.
consultants too often on the hot seat, risky environment, commodities
too many project failures for a small firm.
owner doesn't care, just wants to make more money til the bitter end

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

continue to hold on firmly to the mask or D day will come

Distressed firm with outdated expertise and methods and poor leadership; unfit to succeed in American soil

    Former Employee - Senior Consultant
    Former Employee - Senior Consultant

I worked at Greenwich Consulting full-time for more than a year

    Pros

-- On the very basic level it's almost ok -- salary is paid on time, office is in good location.
-- Some middle-level managers (non-partners) that left were competent and good to work with on assignments.
-- Ice cream project in Africa

    Cons

    - - Based on an model that benefits partners -- As a consultant you are capped with a low compensation for North American standards, but will work very long hours.
    - - Culture of over promise under deliver results in high client churn after first few projects.
    - - Not for experienced professionals - - Unpredictable and confusing leadership.
    - - Poor client ethics; will staff foreign consultants without sector experience in North America
    - - French methods. You will not be given the tools nor support needed to be successful but management/owners will steadily elevate the pressure around your neck to produce, deliver more, and they're always right.
    - - Customers found little value in our consulting work so far. No home runs. Little excitment.
    - - Absolutely no real strategy or marketing plan. Basically throw as many fishing lines out there (cold call, personal networking and sales visits) and hope for a bite.
    - - Outdated and reshuffled topics, unexciting methods and difficult leadership mindset to cope with.
    - - Weak processes can be distracting: training, lengthy travel reimbursements and HR support.

For a company that prides itself and put such emphasis on growth consulting and teaching companies how to be successful, how come there is such high attrition, commitment hold backs, rarely making margin to fund payroll or sales forecasts and high employee dissatisfaction? I think Greenwich needs to get there own act together before they start making recommendations to others or recruiting serious professionals.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start with speaking the truth to have a voice in North America or will continue failing to attract top talent and clients.

I have been working at Greenwich Consulting full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - Senior management values and listens to all practitioners, not focused on politics
    - Plenty of opportunities to add value from beginning
    - Firm size is ideal (but may not be for everyone), small enough to have challenging work that is actual "management consulting", but big enough to have co-workers from around the world that you will actually get a chance to work with

    Cons

    - Work/life balance can be difficult (although by consulting standards, it is better than average)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Continue to listen to all practitioners, be in tune with what interests them in the field and continue to lead eminence and thought leadership
