    Pros

Finally! there's a CCO on board that know's what the hell he is doing. I don't think people are used to having a CD that actually takes stock in their work and PUSHES them to do better. This place is in for some great changes.

    Cons

The pitch process is a bit wonky. And it takes forever to get stuff through HR and other departments. But other than that, the people are great.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think they are making good strides. If they continue with this trajectory, this place is going to be phenomenal.

Positive work environment and powerful team collaboration. Amazing amount of talent.

    Cons

Typical of any agency, senior management presence is often lacking due to client demand.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value the time your people put in and reward them more for it.

Weak Management- Causes a revolving door of employees

    Pros

    Location
    Salary is slightly above average
Benefits and vacation are standard for Advertising

    Cons

    MANAGEMENT
Company is way too Account centric
Overall lack of respect for employees.
Heard throughout the company there is little work life balance.
Work is constantly just piled on and on without consulting the teams, or taking into consideration current work load.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a deeper look at the reason why you promote the people you do, and if they really are the best qualified.
If the company is run with Account always being treated as #1, soon you won't have any long-term employees left in any other departments.
Finance department is run terribly, and G/L team needs serious replacements accross the board! Replace your CFOs.

I worked at Grey Healthcare Group full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

GHG tries to run like one big family. Of course, in a normal family, the 'mother' knows all her kids intimately, and that just can't happen in a big company. But Grey does try its best and it tries harder than most. There is a powerful corp d'esprit that means people go way beyond the call of duty. You work hard. And you play hard. If you mess around, or don't play as a team member, you are out the door. The people who have worked there, and who still meet up socially (in a way that doesn't happen at other agencies) are legion. And they all have the same positive view of the place. It has it's faults, sure, but it tries to fix them, and it wants to know how. And if they have anything to say to you, they will always say it to your face, and not behind your back.

    Cons

The work/life balance is very hard to establish at GHG. My view is that people end up working late night after night and at weekends because either they are overworked or because they simply aren't very good at their jobs. Often it is a case of both. Grey is very accommodating. If you can take on more, they will give you more (and pay you more). But if you are drowning in work just ask for help and, if its warranted, the cavalry will come. That doesn't happen in other agencies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Help people to get their work done during normal office hours and encourage them to go home to their families at night.

    Pros

Met and worked with some great people

    Cons

Leadership fosters an extremely acrimonious environment. Pressure to meet monthly financial numbers is far more important than taking good care of clients. Fight to survive internal politics is also much more important than clients. Clients finish last, and they all lose.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Re-focus organization on doing good work and taking care of customers. Encourage healthy collaboration rather than growing strife.

Current Employee - Interactive Project Coordinator in New York, NY

I have been working at Grey Healthcare Group full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The Project Management team is pretty close and full of cool people. Certain teams are better than others, but most people are fun to work with and easy to get along with.

    Cons

It can be pretty clique-y. There is NO training provided for new employees, or opportunities to learn and grow new skills. If your brand team is primarily print you will get almost no digital experience. New management is unfortunately transforming it for the worse. Maybe in a year when things settle down it will be better? You are not really cared about here as a person instead it's more about how many hours you work a week and how billable you are... No one feels secure in their job here. Be careful who you trust.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

this isn't CDM. Stop trying to make it like that. Ruling with kindness will get you a lot farther than ruling with fear. Consider getting to know your employees. Be more approachable and friendly. When your staff is afraid to talk to you or even cc you on an email...you've got problems.

When I got my promotion, my new salary didn't kicked until after 3 months (but there was back-pay).

Most of the people working here are fun people that are great to work with. Everybody is easy to get along with and like to have a good time at work.

    Cons
