I worked at Greyhouse Publishing full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I will have the decency of giving this company at least a 2-star rating, mainly because the products were good.... The commissions were O.K. You did see an increase in your paycheck if you did the footwork. But was a hard sell.

    Cons

The leads were horrific, they have been used over and over , The lead program must have been created at the beginning of the computer age! You had to hunt for the sale.
If you praised the mgmt daily you would have a job. Only a handful of reps would get the "Preferred Leads" and only 2 people would make more than 8 sales a day.
    Not an even playing ground.

I worked at Greyhouse Publishing full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Pretty much none - well, of course you have the fellow workers some of which were really great individuals, but they are usually there for about the duration of a long airport connection.

    Cons

Daft management, No communication, ignorant, bovine marketing, elephantine sales / crm software from the 80s (sluggish minds refuse to acknowledge upgrading) - THIS COMPANY WILL COMMIT TO A VERBAL ANNUAL SALARY THEN PROCEED TO CONVERT INTO HOURLY RATE SO AS TO ENFORCE A HIGHLY SUSPECT PRACTICE OF USING A PUNCH CARD TIME CLOCK AND DOCK EVERY EMPLOYEE 1/4 HOUR FOR EVERY 2 MIN DISCREPANCY ON THE PUNCH CARD - THIS OFTEN MEANS EMPLOYEES WORKING OVER 40HRS A WEEK YET RECEIVING LESS THAN THEIR FULL PAY

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

they are not worth it, not capable of understanding it - singularly feudal exploitative company intentionally engaging in these practice

Former Employee - Sales/Marketing in Poughkeepsie, NY

    I worked at Greyhouse Publishing

    Pros

Nice view from the window. Very lax in dress code. Some people wear slippers and pajamas to work. No reason to work there, really. It;s just a job to fill in while you're looking for a real job.

    Cons

Favoritism abounds in what to sell, so only a few actually make any kind of money at all. If "they" don't like you, they fire you. They give people they don't like unpopular books to sell.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Advice? How about being real with your employees, how about hiring people who really know how to do the job instead of hurting people?
