I worked at Grid One Solutions, Inc. as a contractor

    Pros

The starting pay, the independence and overtime.

    Cons

They talk to you like you are a child. The lack of promotion opportunities. If you get a parking ticket it is on you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Tell lower management to get off their high horse, and come down to reality. The project manager walks around like the king of Henry's court.

I have been working at Grid One Solutions, Inc. full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The pay & benefits are OK and you get to work outside Independently. Good training programs as well. They also are good about promoting from within.

    Cons

Supervisors need to be better compensated for the time and effort they put in. It's a disgrace that certain projects have technicians at a higher pay rate than the supervisors.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give the supervisors a much needed pay raise and/or opportunities to earn bonuses through out the year. You've done both of these for the technicians. The supervisors are normally working more than 50 hours per week. They arrive before the technicians and remain until after the last tech has left. It's bad business when you have a supervisory staff longing for a demotion in order to get a pay raise.

    Pros

Above average starting rate 15.50 at time of this review.Time and half after 40 hours.
Benefits after 90 days.Training provided, tools, vehicle.Personal Protective Equipment -excellent

    Cons

Mandatory 2 saturdays on before one off(can work all saturdays)There is a quota of installs daily. Management encourges staying in field to meet quota without payment for additional time spent.Management uses a no walls style disipline ,your business is available for anyone else within hearing distant.Management will remind you that 1000's of people want your job and you should get the job done or you will be let go.This is a project job no guarentee of employment after the project is complete.June,July,August hot months to be wearing t-shirt and long sleeve fire retardant shirt and heavy fire retardant jeans in addition to hard hat with shield when in front of meter change out, boots and special gloves also worn.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Buy decent printers and cartridges for supervisors so they can stop using that excuse for not getting stuff printed.Make sure trainers are all training the same way.Make and distribute instructions on how to best utilize handhelds & any tips that are proven to decrease time between installs.
