I have been working at Grossmont College part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There are a lot of ways to get ahead, such as, tutoring department and also the English department is always willing to help you with whatever you need.

    Cons

Some of the classes needed have only a few spaces so we need to apply as fast as we can.

    Advice to Management

It would be great if you can get in touch with all the International students so they can discuss with you all their needs and maybe come up with a plan. Things change at all time, so it will be good if you can meet with them in the middle of the semester to make sure everything is going smoothly for them.

I have been working at Grossmont College full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    The public employees' retirement program

    Cons

Seriously screwed up hiring process, lots of cliques, antiquated processes with no desire to fix what's broken

    Advice to Management

An interview panel of 7 people is intimidating. Giving a nervous candidate a difficult work test at the interview is just wrong and doesn't give a real picture of what can be done. Making room/date changes 24 hours or less before the interview and assuming the candidate has gotten the email notification is unrealistic. Not communicating with candidates who have not made the cut is unacceptable and especially when it is a candidate already working there.
