Pros
The pay is good, the company is a fortune 500 so you do not have to deal with unfair or poor management. The people are great to work with, benefits are fair, so is commision.
Cons
people are always coming and going. You have to depend on other people to do your job correctly so sometimes you are put in a bad position and the customers will take it out on you. No holiday bonus, no more christmas parties.
Advice to Senior Management
you have to be good at what you do and you'll move up. Same for every job
Pros
High Integrity.....Great Management.....Good compensation....The best company in the industry.
Cons
The car business is a major commitment. Not for the weak of heart.
Pros
Group 1 is the perfect place to go if you are looking to get some job experience. They have numerous turnovers so, it is fairly easy to get hired.
Cons
Group 1 Automotive does not respect there employees. If you are looking for career advancement, then this is not the place for you. Most of the benefits are not really benefits and you can purchase the same types of insurance from outside sources and it would cost you less. Holidays are few and far between and require that you work some of them. In the last couple of years, most of their employees have received pay cuts and the rest have not received raises in years. It seems like there layoffs have all occurred weeks before Christmas. If you are looking for recognition, this is not the place for you.
Advice to Senior Management
With all the cut backs, it would be nice if there was some sort of recognition for all the hard work and extra jobs that we have taken on since, the cut backs. A group email newsletter telling us that we are appreciated and then notifying us of something else that is being taken away, does not constitute a thank you. We have been told over and over by management that our recognition is that we have a job and trust me, with the state of the economy that is greatly appreciated although, an occassional sign of appreciation for all of our hard work would be greatly appreciated. This does not have to be anything monetary but, something personal to us would help bring back morale.
Pros
I love the flexible hours at the company and the managers are easy going and doesn't give a hard time.
Cons
The salary rate isn't enough and there isn't any opportunity for growth in the company for accounting majors. Only good for entry level!.
Advice to Senior Management
The company is very easy going, but the pay rate never really changes unless you get promoted into a higher rank.
Pros
good compensation potential, local management flexible with time off for personal affairs, many nationwide locations so relocating may be easy to do
Cons
scripted sales presentation and procedures, follow their sales processes or you're out, volume is the only thing that matters, cookie cutter philosophy to sales and operations for over 200 dealerships that doesn't always fit, medical benefit costs eat up your base salary, shifting pay plans lower compensation
Advice to Senior Management
None
Pros
good income when the market explodes like during cash for clunkers
Cons
too few employees trying to run the stores due to economic downsizing, working people way beyond normal overtime.
Advice to Senior Management
you can't make employee assesments only from reports, you have too many people mousing your system that don't care about anyone but themselves.
Pros
Some of the best employees around
Cons
Must live at dealership to make any money, Cut 401k match ,sick & personal day GONE, Salespeople 40% pay cut, hourly employees 5% cut whats next? everyone is over worked and Management is condescending and unprofessional.
Advice to Senior Management
Happy employees make happy customers and I am not happy when i know I will be working 50-60 hours next week and still may not make enough to pay the mortgage
