I have been working at Growthink full-time for more than a year
Pros – Lots of variety in the job! We worked with clients in a wide spectrum of industries. Several interesting projects. Flexible management style allows people to take on responsibility early and direct certain areas of the company. Management is friendly and approachable. Was a great place to learn a lot and be exposed to various industries, clients, and project types.
Cons – Some lower level projects and clients are frustrating to work with. No growth in salary and long term career development plan.
Advice to Senior Management – Seems to be no consistency in how sales team is hired. The mentality of sell a project first then figure out how to get it done later is not effective for the company or clients.

I worked at Growthink full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Pros: Growthink / GT Securities is the ideal place to work for senior bankers, consultants, early-stage investors, etc., who want to provide corporate advisory services, but don't want to work as sole practitioners. The firm is one the only places where one can provide integrated investment banking and hands-on strategic consulting services. The compensation potential, for those who can bring in clients, is unlimited (no cap). There is an enormous need for these services in the current market environment and the experience was invaluable. I enjoyed my time there and still work on projects with the firm.
Cons – Cons: Providing professional services to early-stage clients is inherently a challenge in the current economic environment, despite the great need for them.
Advice to Senior Management – In terms of hiring senior professionals: hire advisors with experience and an existing book of business and client relationships, then support their business development efforts.

I worked at Growthink full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Fun, exciting, fast-paced work environment. Direct access to management. Tons of learning and growth opportunities (but don't expect to be spoonfed). As long as you produce results, you'll have autonomy and the ability to choose your path.
Cons – The company does not provide very much handholding to new employees (you must be a self-starter to thrive here). Results-oriented workplace can be stressful if you're not used to it. Client work (especially with startups) can be demanding.
Advice to Senior Management – Provide more structured and on-going training/education for employees.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

I worked at Growthink
Pros – Some of the best exposure to entrepreneurial activity you can find
Very quick education on the key levers to growth company success, and how to sell and service the SMB/SME
Some very talented co-workers - analysts have moved on to top-tier law/b-schools, more senior folks have become CFOs/COOs of small to midsize companies
Fast-paced, forces discipline, the epitome of entrepreneurial
Cons – The epitome of entrepreneurial
Career opportunities are based on company growth, which in turn follows macroeconomic conditions. Since the recession, opportunities for advancement have been infrequent.
Ongoing training is on the job - a "earn as you learn" mantra. Because it is busy, the right skills are often not developed
Very few people can both sell and deliver this type of service, although compensation is often tied to both
Advice to Senior Management – Commit to skill development and putting the right people in the right positions.
Evolve product/market fit to improve efficiency of sales process, and by doing so reduce the requirement that people need to be able to both sell and deliver this type of work, which is difficult.

I worked at Growthink full-time for less than a year
Pros – The vision of the work is interesting. You get exposed to many areas of business development but on the surface level only.
Cons – Everything is rushed and there is rarely a chance to dive deeply into the work because of it. There is virtually no career development opportunities. Management structure is strange and in many cases filled by people who should not be at the management level.
Advice to Senior Management – Actually consider the managers that you are hiring to lead the consultants and analysts.

I worked at Growthink full-time for less than a year
Pros – 1. There is plenty of autonomy for both project managers and business development consultants
2. Company offers decent, though not comprehensive, training
Cons – 1. Quality of deliverables to clients is average to below average
2. Management suffers from a lack of focus, always enticed by the next 'big thing'.
3. Pay is average to below average.
4. Poor hiring practices
Advice to Senior Management – 1. Specifically target and market to larger clients instead of just hoping to find them by luck or 'numbers'
2. Dramatically improve training.
3. The company can grow through sales. Hire better sales people and do not allow project managers to sell.

I worked at Growthink
Pros – It is very interesting work and some of the clients are great companies with great management.
Cons – Constant overselling of capabilities to get clients to pay and then the work is done by very junior recent college grads who are very smart, but have no real-world experience and are under very strict limits on the amount of time they can spend on a project. This is because once the client pays, then the project is staffed and managed to the absolutely lowest cost possible without sufficient regard to the quality of the work. As a result, few clients return, and few clients give positive referrals or recommendations.
Advice to Senior Management – Be more honest with employees and clients. Have more senior people doing the work and focus on delivering quality to the clients. The problems at the company now are a result of a focus on bringing money into the company and it's founders, and NOT on delivering great work to the clients.

I have been working at Growthink
Pros – Growthink gives the opportunity to develope to the highest standards. You are allowed to develop next to some of the smartest groups of people assembled under one roof. The culture encourages nurishment, belief, inspiration and growth. Profits are pumped toward marketing, salaries are earned, growth is encouraged.
Cons – You are allowed to work hard every moment of the work day. Your salary comes to you from an honest effort, smart time management and quick development. The learning curve is sharp and constant, lunch time is a time to nurish your ability to prepare for the next engagement.
Advice to Senior Management – Open transparency, tough realities could be toned down a few notches for the front line dedicated.
