Current Employee – been working at GrubHub full-time for more than a year
Pros – The only Pro aside from location is that when you tell people you work at GrubHub they have heard about it which wasn't the case 2 years ago. That turns into a Con quickly when you're hit with complaints from people that use the service or they find out what it's really like to work there
Cons – Departments in chaos caused by people that knew what they were doing leaving. Had an issue I tried to get help on that wasmet with confusion and no support by the new HR person. Having trouble getting my job done with operations due to leadership. Lots of frustrated people having similar experiences with these departments now and missing the time when there were people who provided real support and had knowledge for what they do! This causes a lot of concern for where the company is headed.
Advice to Senior Management – I think you guys need to address the fact that good people are leaving and being replaced with the wrong people! Some departments are suffering because of this It is causing a lot of problems in other departments as well. We just are trying to do our jobs. It also makes you wonder who is next to leave.

Current Employee – been working at GrubHub full-time for more than a year
Pros – - If you have any time between calls you can surf the internet.
-There is a company lunch twice a month.
- Each shift bid which can last 3-4 months you are assigned a manager and sometimes the manager takes you out on a team outing or provides food at the team meeting.
-The office space is really nice and located in the loop next to lots of public transportation.
- Job comes with benefits.
-Paid lunch period
Cons – - There seems to be a surprising amount of restaurants that have employees that do not know how to deal with our service. Account management or Sales should make sure the restaurant is capable of taking online orders. This would have a positive impact on customer service.
- Not enough representation for all languages in bilingual staff. Only Spanish speakers, no Chinese, etc.
- Taking off sick for as few as 2 intermitant days during a 3-4 month period can have a significant impact on your ranking.
- Taking too much time to leave adequate notes about an issue after a call effects your productivity.
- You really have to be a workhorse to get a good schedule but that is the only primary benefit of working hard.
- You can't depend on having your schedule for very long.
- QA Coordinators mark you off for insignificant things even if the customer is satisfied with the experience.
Advice to Senior Management – I'm not sure if anything can be done. I think this might be the way things have to be.

Current Employee – been working at GrubHub full-time
Pros – Free food, hours to do nothing
Cons – Morale in sales is low. The entire salesfloor is struggling and senior management continues to enforce ridiculous strict standards while asking more more more of an already shrinking sales department. Senior management is abysmal, the startup environment is long gone, and people are struggling just to get done with the day to day. Something needs to be done before senior management wakes up and has no sales people left to sell an incredibly great product. And the GrubHub core values? No longer a priority for management that continues to push salespeople to do whatever it takes to get a sale. And all for an incredibly low starting pay compared to other similar companies in the industry.
Advice to Senior Management – Reevaluate the goals that Senior Management pushes to middle management (which employees get affected by). Reward your current successful sales people before more people continue to leave. Boost morale--appreciate what you have and continue to strive for attainable goals.

Former Employee – worked at GrubHub full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – When I first began working there, the start-up culture was exciting. There is usually lunch provided once a week, and around holidays to celebrate. There are also a lot of really talented and interesting people who work there, so it's a great place to make connections and friends.
Cons – The senior management of the sales/account management department is abysmal. The sales managers encouraged sales reps to lie, or at least omit information, to close a deal. It would then be turned over to account managers who had to correct this information, and try to save the account, or be penalized for losing it. The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing---or, worse, they know, and just don't care that it's wrong.
All sales teams have this reputation, sure. But GrubHub purports to be different. At company meetings, the co-founders talk about how different it is, and employees across departments and looking at each other with raised eye brows.
Advice to Senior Management – There needs to be a change in power in the sales/AM department. When I first started working at GH, if someone left, people wondered why anyone would want to go. By the time I left, people were asking me where I was going, and if they were hiring. Morale is low.

Current Employee – been working at GrubHub full-time for less than a year
Pros – Free Food/ Great Training/ Good Managers/ Not having mangers breathing over you/ They encourage you to grow/ The pay isn't bad compared to the work you do.
Cons – Terrible hours when you start/ Not flexible with the schedule/ Sometime the information you receive from mangers is inconsistent
Advice to Senior Management – Mangers should be on the same page when they give information to employees.

Current Employee – been working at GrubHub full-time for less than a year
Pros – Awesome co-workers, amazing training, free drinks, and random free food. The company/management give you respect and responsibility, anytime you need help someone is there to lead you in the right path. The best job I've had yet. Working around inspiring people that put you in a good mood. I actually enjoy going to work and look forward to it.
Cons – you can get stuck with unfortunate hours but you get paid extra for holidays.
Advice to Senior Management – keep doing what you're doing. Do let the culture change

Current Employee – been working at GrubHub full-time for more than a year
Pros – -You get to wear whatever you want
-Some of the people are incredible
-New office is great
Cons – -Subject to random changes in commission calculation
-Inexperienced and under-qualified senior management which leads to an extremely disconnect and inefficient work environment
-Executive management doesn't seem to care about about sales employees at all. Middle management recently told us founders lied to us at a company wide meeting when asked a question about a change commission structure
-Senior management doesn't seem to care about sales employees. E.g. being pulled off the sales floor with no guarantee that lost time will be factored into compensation
-Little to no sales resources
-Very inefficient and redundant processes
Advice to Senior Management – Right the ship and improve morale or you're sunk. Your sales people are being fired and are leaving in droves because your management team doesn't know what they are doing. Get rid of your senior management team ASAP and hire an experienced VP to oversee your sales department. Remember that sales is your revenue engine and your top performers will leave and are currently looking elsewhere because of the way you treat your employees. Remember that people are not objects and are not be disposable.

Current Employee – been working at GrubHub full-time for more than a year
Pros – - Great people: Understanding, respectful, friendly, willingness to help, very talented, and motivated
- The culture is very hip, comical, non-corporate like and relaxing. I wear sweatpants to work!
- The company takes care of you. They want to make sure you are happy with minimal stress possible. Great compensation & benefits, frequent outings, fun, rewards and great management.
- I've seen many people get promoted within a small time frame; There is a lot of growth for learning and career development
Cons – - Work can be overwhelming during project crunch times
Advice to Senior Management – Sometimes, management expects work to be done sooner than it should. By doing this, it requires everyone to push in lots more hours.

Current Employee – been working at GrubHub full-time for more than a year
Pros – GrubHub is one of the fastest growing tech start-ups in Chicago. The 2 co-founders remain very involved in the business, and have a strong vision for the company. Work is rewarding because you are actually driving real value for local independent restaurants. Everyone enjoys a majority of their time here, and a lot of organic learning takes place everyday.
Cons – There are growing pains, but to be expected for a company with rapid upward trajectory. The necessary resources to get your job done are sometimes scarce.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep the culture, don't forget employees who helped get the business to where it is at, and remain transparent. Keep developing further versions of great initial products.
