I worked at Grundfos full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great environment - people, facilities, collaboration and resources Family oriented Great benefits and growth opportunities Great products, customer service and training Always measuring processes and finding ways to improve

    Cons

    None that I can think

    Advice to Management

Please put more focus on the North American market when developing new products in Denmark. Find out what customers really want on a newer product.

I worked at Grundfos full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Global company, the benefits are pretty good, and the work is really easy We always heard about training opportunities at Grundfos Academy, but i believe they were myths.

    Cons

There is very low employee morale that has plummeted in the past few years with new management. In Indianapolis, they ran off almost everyone that knew what they were doing by trying to get anyone with more than 10 years of experience to retire. They get rid of people who challenge ideas, even respectfully, so they don't have to explain any decisions. Business is suffering horribly because workers are not engaged. Laziness is reward and hard-workers are neglected. It is not uncommon to ask questions and hear "that's not my job" as an answer from almost any department. Management structure is very top-heavy, with lots of managers who seem to just sit around and talk all day, only leaving meetings to grab a bag of chips and a coke. Managers are more concerned about protecting their own agenda than doing what is best for the company or their employees.

    Advice to Management

Learn to respect experience and knowledge and stop promoting your buddies and yes-men

I have been working at Grundfos full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Grundfos is a good company with a positie working environent. They look after the employees well from top to bottom. Working for the compnay presents lots of oppurtunities for progression as well as the oppurtunity to travel.

    Cons

The communication within the company can be lacking. This is to be expected to some degree in a compnay this large but there are times when people don't fully understand the direction a particular project is going or who is in charge

    Advice to Management

More communication and clairty in some processes.

I have been working at Grundfos full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent benefit package, sold vacation time, compensation is generous. Leadership is restructuring for the better. New office in Downers Grove is very neat and clean. Focus on culture and values is important.

    Cons

Constant change, lack of communication amongst colleagues, lack of policies and procedures

I have been working at Grundfos full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The people here are the best...it's too bad they are not treated better.

    Cons

European management is moving into the American companies and pushing their agendas here without the input of American workers that have been in the market for decades. Along the way, they are slicing and dicing American employees and bringing in their European colleagues to give them experience in management, eliminating opportunities for Americans.

    Advice to Management

Actually live the Grundfos values, because right now you are faking it.

I worked at Grundfos full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits are good, most of the employees are good people. Nice places to travel and we always stay at nice hotels. Many employee luncheons and great holiday time off.

    Cons

They talk about employee value, but don't follow any practices around it. If you aren't a European male, you won't go far is this male dominated company.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and actually practice your corporate values.

Great benefits, great ideals, but processed and regulated to the point of inaction.

I have been working at Grundfos full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits: 5% of salary added to 401(k) in addition to matching (3%); Medical insurance is paid after 5 years of employment (single employees are always paid) Company is dedicated to making clean water available to the world Some of the best products in terms of reliability and efficiency Privately held forever; they won't be bought out. Opportunity for a long career, or changing careers within the company.

    Cons

The marketing says "Be (responsible) > Think (ahead) > Innovate (is the essence of what we do)" but there is so much wasted time and resources adhering to processes that take far too much energy. Supply chain is marred by an overly strict approval process. This results in exceptionally reliable products, but backfires when the market is saturated or if something does go wrong (because little effort goes into making the service experience any good).

    Advice to Management

Gut the product line; we are spread far too thin.Focus less on the pump (in most systems, it is just one component) and more on what can be done for the system. Prioritize the specification, ordering, and service experience for the customer. What good are our pumps if they can't get them on the shelves or get them serviced quickly? Get out of your own heads: Bjerringbro is not the center of the world, and although you may say you know that, wisdom is proved right by her actions.

    Pros

Benefits, the workers not much after that

    Cons

They say skilled work then why is there no training program? Numbers based. Say they want hard workers but fire people left and right.some supervisors don't have experience on the line.

    Advice to Management

Get a training program, get supervisors who are experienced with this company and the production of pumps, because if they don't know what it's like then how can they help improve the work?

I have been working at Grundfos full-time

    Pros

Good core group of people who want to succeed. There are opportunities to contribute to the company's success.

    Cons

The company changes a lot and doesn't always give new ways of working a chance to succeed before moving on to something else.

    Advice to Management

Get the new CEO in place so he can begin his team in place and move the company forward.
