  3.

A great place to work, considering you aren't trained for "better lines of employment" as I was.

I worked at Grupo Antolin North America full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Excellent heath insurance, one paid trip a year and decent rewards for punctuality (Gift Cards). The branch I worked for is currently running so you make $300 worth of gift cards if you go the entire year without lateness. Otherwise, it's $50 a quarter. One of their paid trips took the entire plant to a regional amusement park.

Heath Insurance is important in this economy, and from what I've seen in my years in the Midwest this company's own is high tier (some may argue for obvious reasons). It will remain one of the biggest things I will miss about working there; as it had some of the best medical coverage in town.

    Cons

Faulty machinery to work with most the time; full seven-day work-weeks (up to an entire month) depending on how badly a line does; unreasonable working conditions during the summer and excessive workload for some employees (such as myself). Some people pass out from heat exhaustion working here; as the temperature will be notably higher inside their factories than anywhere outside during the summer (up to 110 degrees in 2012).

A "certain line" there will have you running the machine, checking it for glue, filling out scrap sheets and hoisting up to 90 lbs worth of automotive carpet to said machine for 8-12 hours a day--all without any immediate aid & air conditioning / heat during the winter. Add this to a job whose leaders demand a you to do all of this in the space of five minutes max before screaming, and it makes for a real physical and mental challenge.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It would pay for higher-ups to listen to the issues Line Leaders and their workers have. Communication between all employees of all levels is important; and poses a problem if something critical doesn't get fixed because the complaint doesn't go beyond the work floor.

I have been working at Grupo Antolin North America

    Pros

Good salaried benefit program. Unusual work hour policy that encourages longer hours M - Th and 1/2 day Friday.

    Cons

Only connected, Spanish people are placed in upper management positions (Plant Manager spots and above). There is a definite policy to hire people at the lowest possible salary, get as much out of them as possible and then cut them loose if they have a mind of their own and question any management decisions.

On the engineering side, engineering design changes to respond to customer problems or save money, are made almost on the basis of "throw it on the wall and see if it sticks". Thorough testing is nonexistent. There are very few IE's on staff. Standard work processes, if determined by engineering, are constantly being tinkered with and changed at the whim of any members of management who think they have a better idea. The paperwork never seems to catch up with all these changes, to the point that when there is a problem, Manufacturing cannot point to the correct design/assembly method with 100% certainty. This will cause disaster when recalls take place.

Lastly, the "approved" method of handling employees who ask too many questions or express any concern about management decisions, is termination. The atmosphere is not good and really discourages openness and true teamwork.

    Pros

There are some very good and talented people in this company, most are at the working level.
You will be treated well by fellow employees at your level or below.
Others may help you, but must be asked.
There is plenty of opportunity, maybe more than you want at times.

    Cons

When ever important/critical decisions are made, expect the most illogical result/outcome.
The company is severly divided within by the different core groups as senior managers have their own 'hidden agendas'.
Advancement, unless you're Spanish, or have a high level 'sponser' is nonexistenet.
Pay, salary, bonus' are near bottom end of industry.
Company 'tools' for ease of job completion are non-existant or useless.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Review the downsides mentioned and demand accountability at all levels.
