I have been working at Guess? full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

great if you want to coast. forget about upward mobility unless you're among the select few

    Cons

top management focuses on the amount of employees going to the cafeteria instead of important issues like employee dissatisfaction and job performance.

no incentives to do good work because it's not appreciated.

forget about being promoted from within. the only time that happens is if they can't find someone from the outside and it's only a title promotion, not incentive based.

prepare for more work without any training and then they wonder why issues and errors arise.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

start valuing your employees and empowering them to go good work. if you keep beating down morale, stop wondering why there's no company loyalty.

I have been working at Guess? full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

They have a food court… The frozen yogurt was a great perk.
They have a gym. It's not that nice, but they do offer spin and yoga classes.

    Cons

I guess it's kind of like a prison. They told us to walk quickly in the hallways so that they know we're always doing something. You get 3 breaks a day. 15 minutes between 9:45-10:15 (I think that was it), 1 hour between 12-2 and another 15 between 3-3:30. If you were caught on break outside one of those times you were put on a "list". If they schedule a meeting during that time, you're just SOL. I don't really take breaks at my current job, not even lunch, but that feeling of imprisonment will make you want to get out.

I had constant job insecurity at Guess. It was one of the most stressful, depressing times during my life. Maybe I got stuck with a bad team, but I would highly suggest staying away.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Properly train your employees. Create a happier, less fear-ridden work environment.

Terrible company, little to know hours and very little hourly pay

I have been working at Guess? part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Meet new people and dress up everyday

    Cons

Hours are solely based on how much you sell, and even then hardly an hours are given. If your not working during the holiday time especially you can forget about recieving good hours. 4.5-9 hours a week is all, and the most thats typically given is 13.5 which is still ridiculous. They make you work like crazy for very little pay. Trust, this company is NOT worth your time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give better hours, and don't hire a ton if people if you can't give good hours to begin with.

I worked at Guess? full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I had some great like-minded teammates. Our cafe was very good. Spin, Yoga, and a fitness room was added benefits.

    Cons

Extremely structured. Everyone worked from 7-6pm where we had 2 scheduled breaks. I couldn't get coffee at a random time unless it was on a scheduled break. Work-Life balance was not ideal. Exec team had a few great members, but one was very intimidating and could be downright mean. It would make your job very stressful and ALWAYS doubting your work. Overall atmosphere made me very unhappy. Long hours, the room we worked in had no windows, LOTS of pressure.

I have been working at Guess? part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Everyone is super nice, Managers have the "Open Door" so you can talk to them about any concerns, it's a few blocks from the beach so if you need to relax after you get off its a good get away. you can get time off as long as you request ahead of time, salary isn't too bad

    Cons

you have to pay for parking every time you work, required to wear heels at ALL times while on the clock unless closing the store (I've already lost feeling in my toes), you could be closing until 3 in the morning

I have been working at Guess? (more than a year)

    Pros

Fun events like "Oscar Parties" (photo booth & cotton candy at lunch), Gourmet cafeteria, sample store on site. One hour lunch, on-site gym w/ daily classes (yoga, spinning, kick-boxing...).

    Cons

Very strict about being on time (heard ppl have even been fired for being 5 min. late). Few holidays off. Not much room for advancement, little internal promotion. Low pay for non-upper mgmt. Seems like a good place to learn/gather experience for work in fashion, it just stagnates after awhile.

I have been working at Guess? part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Small shifts, entry level experience. Great brand awareness. Only a specific type of person will fit well here.

    Cons

Drama, management changing time sheets, bullying, mafia-like behavior.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a closer look at who you are hiring and make sure they are more than qualified not just available.
