Pros
Good place to get exposure and learn. You will have opportunities to get know everyone in the corp and people here are just very nice
Cons
Not very structured. A lot of decisions are made for no reason. Lack of communication on important matters. Running like a family business
Advice to Senior Management
To give better perks, better benefits. Also give employees opportunities to learn and growth. To seek for advices from professionals~
Pros
discount on the clothes were good, good looking people shop there.
Cons
treat you awful, very races towards black, cut throat managers
Advice to Senior Management
treat people how you want to be treated.
Pros
-employee discount 40% sometimes 50% on the weekends
-flexible with schedule if you have school/ other job
-nice clothes
-receive extra $1 per hour if store makes target
Cons
-low pay with no commission... really sucks!
-hours are based on sph (sales per hour) usually have to fight with people for sales
-closing has to be perfect and usually rushed with no help from manager. Never make plans after work if you have to close because i can promise you, you probably wont make it on time.
-expect way too much out of associates and usually only favorites get performer of the month
-poor communication from management with associates
-having to dress up for corporate visits while wearing clothes you usually don't wear and heels for like 7 hours is really uncomfortable and annoying!!
-management is very catty, lots of confusion, gossiping and drama reminds me a lot of high school..ugh
Advice to Senior Management
Treat others like how you want to be treated. Don't hire like 20 associates if were only going to get like 13 hours each. Management also needs to be trained more and be held accountable for more things that's not getting done in the store. Management needs to train staff to get better as sellers than just worrying about yourself!!!
Pros
Great discount and very fashionable clothes
Cons
You have to fold to PERFECTION no flaws allowed
Clean like crazy
Stressful sells goals
Have to be pushy with customers
Wearing heels hurts!
Rude remarks when things dont go as planned
PIcky ,picky , picky, everything has to be perfect
Very low pay for hard work
Often take advantage of your strengths and only point out your flaws
Advice to Senior Management
Train employees on how to perfect the clothing instead of just cashier and selling since everyones so picky, and be nicer.
Pros
The work environment is fun and competitive. the people i work with are friendly. the management is very respectful and honestly wants you to do good, sets very reasonable goals and gives plenty of hours! the 1$ raise every time you make target it awesome! you have potential to make a lot of money here! the discount is awesome too and we dont have to wear heels just dress nicely!
Cons
opening and closing but that is always expected!
Pros
- employee discount: 40% off regular price items and 20% off permanently marked down sale items. There are also employee 50 weekend every time there is a new floor set or whenever they feel liking giving it to you and you get 50% off everything. Their clothes are finally affordable!
- co-workers!! They're all stylish, cool, young, outgoing people. They will keep you going through your shift.
- sales associates and assistant managers receive an extra $1 per hour if the store makes target for the day :)
- managers are usually pretty cool. even if they do have favorites, they don't treat them any differently than other associates
- for dress code.. it's really flexible. Girls can wear heels, boots, flats, or even flip flops. I love how I can dress up and go to work with the same outfit I would go clubbing with.
- I love dressing up and helping customers look good!
Cons
- the high sales goal they have for every associate. it intimidates and stresses out people. People constantly fight over sales (at least in my store).
- scheduling is also done based on your sales per hour (sph). If your sph was bad last week, expect closing shifts this week. Unless you're the best seller in the store, expect to close one or two days a week.
- they tell you during orientation that if you're sick, Guess will find someone to cover for you. but when you actually do get sick, they tell you otherwise that YOU have to find someone to cover. if you get sick during your shift, don't expect to be able to leave early. Even if a family member passed away or if you have a random exam that day, that's "still not a good enough excuse to call out."
- managers rushes you during closing - everything has to be perfect and you have to be quick or they get frustrated because they want to go home.
- worked there for almost 2 years now and still no raise??
Advice to Senior Management
You guys should reward or give special recognition to the sales associates who work their butt off and constantly gets the highest sales. No, not by giving them slightly better hours/shifts, but by perhaps giving them a $20 giftcard every month or a free top or even $1 more than the other associates.
Bring the DJ program back! It makes work more fun and time pass by faster. The music at the Guess store(s) stink!
When are we going to stop saving on payroll and getting two paid 15 minute breaks again?
Also, please make the calling out system better for us. We have a life, and things do happen unexpectedly.
Other than that, great company overall.
Pros
The people really make it a good environment to work in; because of that, it made me want to go to work even more.
Cons
There really wasn't any downsides of working at Guess, except for cleaning/closing/opening, but those come with any job. So I can't complain.
Pros
The people were friendly and the clothes were nice.
Cons
I had to stand in one spot in heels for four hours guarding the door, which limited how much I could help customers and make commission.
Advice to Senior Management
I would have to say, to give all sales associates fair play when on the sales floor. Its not right to yell at the greeter for not selling clothes when they can't even help the customer to the dressing room.
Pros
Really fun atmosphere and really great clothing
Cons
Being told you are going to move forward but then no actions are taken place. Unorganization at the store I was employed at.
Advice to Senior Management
Learn how to do your job first before taking a position someone else could have done better than you . Also, quit hiring people you've already worked with and depleting original employees, this creates hostility and unfairness when your friends get 20 plus hours and original people get nine, especially when the people receiving nine hours a week have the highest SPH. PSNs are used as disciplinary actions for actual legit reasons such as being $40 short on a register, not for wearing a non-label pair of jeans. Get off your high horse and actually be fair to people who have done hard work at your establishment and start following the guides corporate send to you instead of leaving piles of clothing in understock or backstock because your too lazy to fix it.
Pros
The discount is fairly good in comparison to most places.
Cons
Very low pay for hard work
They expect too much and continue to ask for too much of you
Kept late after closing to clean store. I was there some nights until 12 or 1 am.
Often take advantage of your strengths and only point out your flaws
Treat associates as if they're replaceable.
Advice to Senior Management
Recognize the talent within your stores instead of constantly pointing out how much "better" they could be.
