    Pros

People! Music! Cool gear! Every inventory delivery is like Christmas.

    Cons

It's still a retail job with quotas. If you think you're gonna sign up and play guitar all day, you're gonna hate this job.

I have been working at Guitar Center full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

gear discounts, meeting cool customers, working on unique instruments, awesome co-workers, fairly flexible schedules

    Cons

the guitar techs pay structure could be a lot better, and the support system is less than perfect. The "benefits" aren't benefits, they cost a ton with little coverage. there is little to no growth opportunity, and when there is, its only a title change.

I have been working at Guitar Center part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Everyone so far has been really helpful and totally down to help me get going! I get to spend all day around the things I love! The management team is awesome and very informative. No one has made me feel unwelcome.

    Cons

Some people are not there to work. All they do is ring people up, and stand around.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think that my store management is doing a good job as far as I can see.

Incredibly enlightened management, lots of mentoring, tons of advancement opportunities, especially for career-minded people willing to relocate.

I have been working at Guitar Center full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

This job allows me to be around what I love... Music. Not only that but I'm able to help other people make music whether it's an upcoming musician to a professional one. I'm able to meet new faces daily and come into contact with awesome people that not only learn from me, but I also learn from them as well. The new Phase III pay is phenomenal....

    Cons

At this particular moment in my career with GC, I can honestly say that I personally don't have any cons.

I have been working at Guitar Center

    Pros

    Good attention, very friendly environment

    Cons

I don't recommend to buy audio equipment here. And without guarantee you lose everything within your first 30 days. Customer service doesn't help at all. What the store has to say means more than the customer. We had no say.

Current Employee - Customer Operations Assistant

I have been working at Guitar Center part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Coworkers all have a passion for music, making it a fun atmosphere most of the time.

    Cons

My position paid hourly, minimum wage. Like any retail store holidays are insane. I would be asked to work longer hours on the spot. Working at the door long hours and not allowed to sit until break is tough.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get the door person a chair.
