    Pros

I work with some of the most talented people in the industry.

    Cons

    poor communication company wide
excessive time taken to make time sensitive decisions.
material deadline dates are more times than not pushed or excessively late

    Advice to Management

I would like upper management to recognize work performance and compensate accordingly. The company is way too top heavy in regard to the more than comfortable wages - even decent wages remain out of reach for those of us who actually work and make things happen. I really think the company needs to take a serious look at increasing wages to equalize the increased cost of living for everyone.

  2. Great part-time job for a musician in their early 20s, not a career

    - Freebies that add up (ex. tons of amazing free software for pro audio sales associates)

    Cons

    - Management is stressed
    - Gear could be in better shape
    - Smaller stores don't have as great of a selection

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Great people to be around, okay pay, fun environment, and plenty of opportunity to move up.

    Cons

Many changes in processes makes things seem unprofessional.

    Advice to Management

Get a solid plan and execute it, properly.

    Pros

Working in the music instruments industry, casual environment, good managers.

    Cons

Frequent changes in leadership and direction. New executives have no clue about challenges unique to the industry and run it like a clothing retailer. Unrealistic performance expectations.

    Advice to Management

Learn the biz and adapt prior experience before trying to be a revolutionary.

    Pros

Good place to gain experience, fun work, good environment

    Cons

Leadership tended to change a lot, high turnover with sales staff, pay is not enough for skilled labor

    Advice to Management

Pay more and turnover wont be so bad. Fire bad employees rather than dealing with them.

    Pros

great deals on gear; talking to cool vendors (fender, gibson)

    Cons

new sr. management is squeezing every last dollar out of this place without regard to employees or customers. Mid level execs were fired in jan of 2015, some with 15+ years at the company

    Pros

Gear Discounts, Networking, fun be around music all day.

    Cons

Pay is low, can't make decent living here.! Commision plan is weak, very difficult to build a career working on the retail side of this organization.
Pay structure changed 3 times while i was there, touted to be better for sales reps, was not. Managers compete with sales reps on the sales floor for commisions. Management constantly abuses the "do more with less" edict that became pervasive after the recession kicked in.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to keep good employees, pay is only reasonable for entry level, management path is not rewarding enough, few opportunities to rise in organization, and the standard answer that middle and upper management give when you bring it up is" We have star sales people that pull in over 60K a year". That may be so, but most of those are grandfathered in from previous pay scales, I was a highly ranked sales person for years, and 30 to 35 k is more like what they paid- That was hitting commission goals every month! Highly discouraging and borderline misleading.

    Pros

Good for young people to work in.

    Cons

Unless you are willing to relocate upper management positions are hard to attain.

    Pros

The best reason to work here is the discount, hands down the best discount I have ever had at a retail job

    Cons

The hours are the worst part, it's retail so be prepared to work retail hours. That and if you don't meet sales goals you are only getting paid $9 and hour

    Advice to Management

Pick a commission structure and stick with it! The pilot changes every 6-8 months.
